Chapter 49
Whenever Yana thought about this, her heart felt like it was breaking. “Skylar, I’m with you,” she said to Skylar.
“Mrs. Lambert, we only said a few joking words to him. Was it really necessary to take it this far?” one of the ladies chimed in.
“Yeah, everyone’s families have business dealings with each other. Making a big fuss won’t benefit anyone,” another nodded. “Our youthful teasing is best left to us. You shouldn’t get involved.”
The young ladies didn’t expect that Mr. and Mrs. Lambert would actually defend Skylar, who had just returned. Each of them panicked and quickly spoke up.
Yana ignored whatever they said. She only knew that her daughter had been wronged, and as a mother, she could not just stand by and do nothing
“If you’re not satisfied, you can have your parents come to see me,” she said. “If they raised children like you, then their own character must be questionable. I think this business cooperation ends here.”
As soon as she finished speaking, those girls turned pale.
Most of them were from the same social circle as the Lambert family, and the cooperation with the Lamberts was complicated and involved large investments.
If they lost the Lambert’s partnership, their family businesses would definitely suffer. And as the main culprits, they would certainly be scolded by their families.
Some of them barely had a chance to cooperate with the Lambert family. Attending the party and getting familiar with Freya was a rare opportunity to open future doors for convenience.
Now it was all ruined. When they returned home, they would be harshly reprimanded.
Those young ladies were terrified; some had already started to cry.
“Mrs. Lambert, don’t you really care about our friendship of so many years?” A daughter of a long–time business partner of the Lambert family stepped forward, “I believe business matters shouldn’t mix with personal issues.”
“I don’t care about personal or business matters, I just can’t stand seeing my daughter bullied,” Yana had no intention to waste words. “Mr. Baker, do whatever you need to do. As long as you can help my daughter get justice, money is no object.”
Kaleb smiled and nodded: “I will do my best.”
In Skylar’s eyes reflected the tall figure of Yana. She was like a huge source of warmth; being close to her, from head to toe, inside and out, felt cozy and
warm.
Skylar’s heart felt sweet: ‘So this is what it feels like to be protected by family.‘
After those young ladies left, they were badly scolded by their parents. It was miserable.
Skylar sat in the study with Carlos and Yana, the three of them together.
Yana asked about what had happened to her before, but worried she might get upset, added, “If you don’t want to talk about it, I won’t force you. You can tell me when you’re ready. I will always wait for you.”
Skylar smiled, “It’s okay. There’s nothing I can’t talk about.”
She calmly told them about what happened in the Stone family, and later how the Stone family used her to take the fall for Eliana and what happened in prison.
As for the past with Yosef, she barely mentioned it, “I was married once, but we separated for various reasons.”

Chapter 49
Tears streamed down Yana’s face uncontrollably. She hugged Skylar tightly, “What did we ever do wrong that made you suffer so much?.
“Heavens, why didn’t you punish me instead?” Even Carlos couldn’t help but get teary–eyed.
They had investigated Skylar’s background before. Although many details were unreachable, they still knew a little.
They knew she had suffered, but not this deeply.
“That Stone family… for sending you to prison and letting you be bullied there. If I don’t make them pay, I won’t be a Lambert,” Carlos’s face darkened, thunderous and stormy, looking very fierce.
“Dad, I want to take revenge myself. Please don’t interfere,” Skylar chimed in.
“Sweetheart…” Carlos wanted to say more but was stopped by a glance from Yana.
“If you want to take revenge yourself, we won’t interfere. If you need anything, just come to us,” added Carlos.
Skylar nodded. A small smile appeared at the corner of her lips, “Thank you, Mom and Dad.”
“Still so polite with us,” Yana scolded gently, stroking Skylar’s face. “Alright, you’re tired today. Go get some rest.”
The next morning, Yana and Carlos transferred a few millions in spending money to Skylar with a wave of their hands.
“Buy whatever you want. If it’s not enough, just tell us,” said Carlos.
Freya looked exhausted. The night before, she was verbally attacked one after another by the group of girls she used to be close to. At first, she kept apologizing, but later she fought back.
She spent the whole night arguing and didn’t sleep well, now with dark circles under her eyes.
She blinked her tired eyes, feeling deeply jealous.
They only saw Skylar being wronged, never caring about her at all. It was so unfair.
She tightly gripped the knife and fork and accidentally scraped the plate. The harsh sound attracted everyone’s attention at the table.
She apologized with pursed lips and a forced smile, “I didn’t hold it steady, sorry.”
“Freya, didn’t you sleep well last night?” Yana immediately noticed the bruises under her eyes.
“A bit.” Freya still hoped for some care from Yana, wanted them to comfort her.
Yana recalled the events of last night and was still angry, “You need to seriously reflect on last night. Those people insulted Skylar right in front of you, and you didn’t stand up for her.”
“And how did that person even get in?” she added. “You really have no idea?”
Freya lowered her head, voice full of grievance: “Mom/I’m sorry. I’m useless and couldn’t help Skylar. I really don’t know about that person, but I will investigate clearly.”
“Forget it. Your dad and I will keep an eye on that person. You don’t need to worry,” Yana felt some resentment toward her.
