Elianna was about to hit Skylar when she e caught a glimpse of a black suit jacket out of the corner of her eye. She forcibly swallowed her rage and instead

burst into tears.

“It’s my fault. If you want to scald me with hot water, I won’t complain,” she whimpered pitifully. “But we’re out in public. If you do this here, people will think we’re at odds. If a video of you pouring water on me gets online, the netizens will tear you apart.”

She looked like putting Skylar’s reputation above all else, which made Skylar let out a cold laugh.

“Skylar, what are you doing?” Yosef’s voice came from behind, cold and laced with fury.

Of course, Skylar thought, rolling her eyes. No wonder she suddenly turned into such a nauseating act–her backer had arrived.

Yosef strode over and, upon seeing Elianna drenched, took off his suit jacket and draped it over her shoulders.

The redness on Elianna’s skin hadn’t faded yet–it looked a bit alarming.

“Go rest in the lounge. I’ll ask Hudson to buy you a change of clothes,” Yosef said.

Elianna collapsed weakly against Yosef, hugging his waist and whispering sweetly, “I’m okay, Yosef.”

Tears welled in her eyes as she sobbed, “It was just a little misunderstanding between Skylar and me. Please don’t blame her.”

Yosef frowned. “You call this a little misunderstanding?”

If that coffee had just boiled, there wouldn’t be a patch of good skin left on Elianna.

Elianna sniffled, tears rolling down her cheeks and soaking a patch of Yosef’s shirt. He wanted to push her away, but seeing her scalded skin, he

hesitated.

“I don’t want you to argue with Skylar because of me,” she murmured. “Let’s just forget it happened.”

“She hurt you like this–how can we pretend nothing happened?” Yosef snapped.

Elianna leaned into his arms and threw Skylar a triumphant smile, blooming with smugness.

Skylar stood nearby, arms crossed, watching like it was a show–completely entertained. Facing Elianna’s provocation, she smirked coldly, eyes filled

with contempt.

Elianna, who had just been basking in victory, burned with rage at Skylar’s indifferent reaction and sudden counter–provocation.

Feigning desperation, Elianna called out, “Skylar, say something! Tell Yosef you didn’t mean it!”

Skylar didn’t respond. She glanced at Yosef to see what he would do.

When she stayed silent, Elianna bit her lip and resumed crying. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said anything…”

“There’s nothing to explain,” Yosef said coldly. “I saw everything that happened just now.”

Skylar’s indifference agitated Yosef. Was she now too proud to even explain herself to him? he thought. If she didn’t need him, then he didn’t need to show her mercy either.

“You hurt someone, Skylar,” Yosef said sharply. “And you’re not even going to apologize?

Skylar’d known he’d take Elianna’s side, just like five years ago. Even though she saw it coming, her heart still clenched for a brief moment.

But only for a moment. Her expression returned to calm as she replied icily, “You really haven’t changed at all.”

Chapter 33

The remark sparked memories of their last fight–when Skylar slapped him twice and called him disgusting.

That nameless anger surged back in Yosef. “We’re talking about an apology, Skylar. Stop wasting time.”

“Oh, an apology?” Skylar stared him straight in the eye. “I’m not wrong. I’m not apologizing.”

“You’re still talking nonsense?” Yosef’s fists clenched, the veins on the back of his hand bulging as his restraint faltered.

“Yes. So what?” Skylar’s eyes dropped to his fists, and she scoffed inwardly.

Her hatred toward Yosef had peaked. Her words turned even sharper, “What, Mr. Campbell? Going to hit your lawfully wedded wife for your beloved little

mistress?”

Skylar didn’t like to call herself Campbell’s wife–but if it made the people she hated uncomfortable, she’d do it gladly. If she was unhappy, why should

they be happy?

Sure enough, both Yosef and Elianna’s faces changed.

“Mr. Campbell and I are still married, Elianna,” Skylar said to Elianna, “So what do you think you’re doing clinging to him like that?”

Then she turned to Yosef, “Since we’re not divorced yet, maybe try acting like a decent man. Stay away from those cheap women.”

Elianna’s face turned crimson. She pulled away from Yosef, boiling with hatred for Skylar, but still putting on a teary, innocent face–just about to speak,

when-

“Spare me the apologies,” Skylar cut in. “If you really meant it, you wouldn’t have done it in the first place. Your ‘sorry‘ doesn’t mean a thing.”
