Chapter 31
Since the CardioShield capsule couldn’t be produced for now, she turned to making the CalmPulse Capsule instead.
While it didn’t stabilize heart attacks the way the CardioShield capsule did, it was effective in quickly and significantly easing the pain during an episode,
She had learned medicine from Louis and was deeply familiar with the properties and effects of all the herbs. She could mix up a prescription on the spot
with ease.
She first created a sample and handed it over to the researchers for testing. If everything checked out, it could go straight to market.
Right at that time, NatureMed suddenly reached out to them.
Clutching a folder, Sophie followed behind Skylar, complaining, “This company is really something else. After the way they treated us before, they’ve actually got the nerve to come looking for a partnership.”
“A deal handed to us on a silver platter–we’d be fools not to take it.” Skylar had learned many things in prison, and one of them was that there are no permanent enemies in this world.
When interests aligned, even enemies could become friends.
Not only did NatureMed lower their tone, but they also offered a 50% discount.
If she turned that down just to save face, she’d probably slap herself awake in the middle of the night out of regret.
She marched straight to the meeting room with Sophie in tow.
“Ms. Lambert.” Daniel greeted her with a big smile. “It was our fault last time. I’ve come personally to apologize.”
He pushed a pile of gift boxes toward her. “A little something–please accept it.”
Skylar glanced at it, then looked away and sat down on the couch. “No need to stand, Mr. Walker. Please, have a seat.”
Daniel nodded and sat down.
“Does the person upstairs know you’re here to discuss this partnership?” asked Skylar.
Daniel laughed, “This visit is on Mr. Campbell’s orders.”
Skylar toyed with her fingers. “Did
he
have anything to say through you?”
Daniel nodded. “Mr. Campbell said that since you’re willing to talk cooperation, both sides should show sincerity. We’ve already taken a step back–now it’s your turn.”
Of course, nothing ever came that easily, thought Skylar.
“Just say it–what do you want?” she asked.
“Mr. Campbell hopes you’ll personally oversee the collaboration,” answered Daniel.
Without hesitation, Skylar agreed. “Sure, no problem.”
Daniel looked surprised, as if he had more to say.
“You look surprised,” Skylar raised her eyebrow.
“Well… yes, a little,” replied Daniel. He recalled what the boss had told him before he came, if Skylar refused, he should do whatever it took–pressure, persuasion, anything to make her agree.
