“I never did it–how can I admit to something I never did?” Elianna lifted her chin stubbornly, blinking hard to keep the tears from falling.

“And besides, recordings can be faked. Who knows if this isn’t something you cooked up on purpose to frame me? Let’s not fight anymore, okay? We’re family. Can’t we just live in peace?”

As she spoke, her emotions took over, and big teardrops began to roll down her cheeks. The police couldn’t immediately tell who was telling the truth.

“Well, in that case, both of you will need to come with us to the station,” he finally said.

Skylar instructed Sophie to handle the public clarification statement and to contact a lawyer to prepare

Later, Skylar and Elianna were taken to the police station together.

Elianna sat on a bench, shoulders shaking with visible grievance, head lowered as she clutched her phone, doing something on it.

Skylar, calm as ever, leaned on her hand with bored indifference, absentmindedly fiddling with her phone.

The recording was sent to the technical team for analysis, but the results weren’t out yet.

The two women were brought into separate rooms for questioning.

Both stuck firmly to their own versions of events, and the interrogation reached an impasse.

Eventually, they were brought back to the waiting area and told they’d need someone to bail them out before they could leave.

When Yosef arrived, Elianna’s eyes filled with tears. “Yosef, you’re finally here.” She threw herself into his arms and clung tightly to him.

Skylar watched the scene coldly.

Yosef frowned slightly and pushed Elianna away. “What’s going on?”

“Yosef, Skylar’s company’s new meds had issues. She thinks I did it and called the police. The officers brought both of us in for questioning to get to the bottom of things.” Elianna chose her words carefully, giving a vague account of what happened.

Yosef’s cold gaze turned to Skylar. “Skylar, what are you trying to pull this time?”

There it was again–that familiar line. Skylar sighed. No questions. No hesitation. He always rushed to condemn her. She should be used to it by now, but her chest still ached faintly.

“What I do is none of your concern, Mr. Campbell. Just keep your woman in check. If she pulls another stunt like this, I won’t go so easy on her next time,” she shrugged.

Yosef seethed. “Even now you’re being stubborn?”

Skylar gave no response. She closed her eyes, clearly refusing to engage.

A vein throbbed visibly on Yosef’s temple. He clenched his fists, struggling to control his rising anger. “Skylar, you’re coming with me.”

Elianna was stunned. “Yosef, weren’t you here to bail me out?”

Just then, Hudson appeared at the right moment. “Miss Elianna, I’m here to bail you out.”

Skylar had originally asked Sophie to come, but since someone else was bailing her out, there was no need to trouble her.

She sent Sophie a quick message, stood up, and walked off without saying a word.
