Skylar was waiting for her driver, but to her surprise, it was Brada who showed up.
Brada said, “Skylar, let me drive you home.”
She thought. After just one afternoon apart, he’d already switched from calling me “Ms. Lambert” to “Skylar.”
Skylar instantly recalled the morning’s awkward encounter and reflexively declined, “No, thanks. My driver’s on his way.”
Brada asked dejectedly, “Skylar, are you avoiding me? Is it because of what I said to you this morning?”
Skylar waved her hand dismissively. “No, I really do have my ride coming.”
Skylar had no idea how to respond to Brada’s advances, so she resolved to keep her distance as much as possible.
He’d never done anything out of line, always the perfect gentleman, sincere in his courtship of her.
Skylar thought with a sigh, “Guys like him are the hardest to deal with.
‘Never in my life have I wanted to see my driver show up so badly.‘
As if he’d heard Skylar’s silent plea, the driver pulled up right on time.
Skylar breathed a sigh of relief. “Brada, thanks for offering to drive me home, but my ride’s here. No need to trouble yourself.”
After bidding Brada a quick goodbye, Skylar immediately ducked into the car and urged the driver, “Step on it!”
Brada’s spirits sank after he failed to pick up Skylar.
He drove off alone, his mind already plotting his next move.
Adam was bored at home, so when Skylar was heading to work, he insisted on tagging along to her office.
The next day, Skylar brought Adam along to the office.
First, Adam really wanted to come. Second, Skylar suspected Brada didn’t believe she actually had a child, so bringing Adam to the office meant that if Brada showed up, he’d see Adam with his own eyes.
Sure enough, Brada showed up again.
Today, Brada showed up with a bouquet of pink roses.
Adam thought, ‘My instincts went on high alert.
‘Who’s this guy with the flowers?
‘Wait, is he bringing Mom roses because he wants to date her?‘
Adam immediately stopped watching his cartoons, grabbed his smartwatch, snapped a photo, and sent it to his dad.
He added an urgent caption along with the photo. [Daddy, come quick!]
To really show how urgent it was, Adam even threw in extra exclamation points at the end.
After sending the message, Adam slid off the couch and marched up to the man.
Adam looked up with his chubby little face and asked warily, “Mister, what are you doing here?”

Chapter 211
Brada was completely baffled. He thought, Where did this kid come from?”
Skylar stood up, scooped Adam into her arms, and introduced him to Brada. “This is my son.”
Only then did Brada notice, the child actually bore some resemblance to Skylar.
Brada exclaimed, “How adorable.”
Brada studied Adam’s features and began imagining what his own child with Skylar might look like.
Brada mused, “A mixed–race baby would probably be even cuter, right?‘
“Mom, who’s he?” Adam hated the way that man was looking at Skylar with that gooey–eyed expression. ‘Mom is mine, and no one can take her away from me,‘ he thought fiercely.
Adam could accept sharing Skylar with Yosef, but there was no way he’d let anyone else take her away from him.
