Bud scowled in annoyance. “Don’t you know I’m Ms. Lambert’s future boyfriend? Since when does her man need an appointment to see her?”

The receptionist frowned hard. “What the hell? Ms. Lambert’s future boyfriend?”

She sized him up from head to toe, her gaze critical and unflinching.

She thought, ‘Sure, he’s kind of cute, but his proportions are just average at best.

‘With his sorry ass thinking he’s good enough for Ms. Lambert? Is he out of his damn mind?‘

She replied, “Sorry, sir, but appointments are required for entry here.”

Repeatedly blocked, Bud grew increasingly irritated. His tone turned sharp as he sneered, “Can’t even recognize important people when you see them? No wonder you’re stuck being a lowly receptionist.”
