Robin glanced at the clock; only five minutes remained before 10:00 a.m.
He looked up at Hayden and spoke in a calm tone, "Since things are getting lively, we could set a time to discuss this further once we're done here."
Before Hayden had a chance to reply, Robin gestured toward Charlie. "Please have the conference staff switch to the live broadcast of our eastern waters live-fire drill.
"Let's allow the regional representatives watch our fleet in action."
"Right away, Mr. Ramsey!" Charlie quickly coordinated with the staff to change the screen to the footage from eastern waters.
The screen now displayed one of the Four Great Fleets involved in the training—the D001 fleet.
Robin checked the time again and picked up the satellite phone. "D001 Fleet Commander, we have three minutes until the live-fire drill starts. How are things on your end?"
"Master Ramsey!" Flint's deep voice came through clearly, loud enough for everyone in the room to hear.
"All units are in position. As soon as the clock hits the mark, all missiles will be launched at the designated target zones.
"Units, prepare ... "
As the D001 fleet's formation shifted on the screen, a tense silence fell over the negotiation room at Grimvarn Isle.
The representatives from various regions, who had been joking and making sarcastic comments about the joint drill of the 17 nations, suddenly went quiet.
The clock ticked closer to 10:00 a.m.
The representative from Novaros suddenly seemed to realize the seriousness of the situation.
"Divine Drakebane, General Quintana, contact D001 immediately. Tell them to stop. I'll get in touch with our higher-ups, and we can continue the negotiations."
Jethro looked at Robin with a smirk. "Mr. Berry, do your higher-ups play games like this?
"To put it bluntly, how could someone in power act so recklessly?
"A great nation like ours only goes to war when absolutely necessary, and when we do, it's decisive!
"Do you think we're just pretending?"
Morgan began to sweat nervously. "Wasn't the whole point of this about dialogue and negotiations?"
Jethro chuckled. "Our leadership believes in compassion. We didn't want to use force.
"That's why we've warned you repeatedly, hoping you'd back down.
"But you took our goodwill as a weakness.
"You've got it all wrong if you think that way!
"Anyone who dares challenge Draconia's bottom line, who hurts our people's pride, will face no mercy!
"We've made our stance clear many times, treating you as friends.
"Since you refused to appreciate that, now you'll witness Draconia's determination to destroy anyone who crosses our line."
At that moment, the clock in the conference room struck 10:00 a.m.
In an instant, the screen erupted in flames.
The missiles fired by the D001 fleet shot out like fiery dragons, hitting the designated island reefs.
The group of people clinging to the reefs of Novaros, along with the broken ships on the islands, were completely wiped out in an instant, reduced to ashes.
Morgan collapsed into his chair.
A Novaros assistant rushed over. "Mr. Berry, It's a call from high command!"
Morgan grabbed the phone in a panic. "Mr. President, the negotiations are over!
"We must protest! This is sheer barbarism!" The voice on the other end of the phone shouted, the anger echoing loudly in the room.
