As soon as Robin posed the question, Corwin, the Chief Guardian of the Black Faith Order, fell completely silent.
After a brief moment of panic, he bowed low once again. "Master, this ... this would require the approval of Archbishop Ezekiel Fairfax before I can say anything."
Robin let out a cold snort. "And what if I insist on knowing?"
The atmosphere around them tensed immediately. Caius and the other officials and merchants of Gyro Castle instantly sensed the spark of danger in the air.
Everyone lowered their heads, lips tightly sealed, not daring to meet Robin's gaze.
Corwin remained prostrate. "If you truly wish to know the identity of Archmage Varryn, then once we arrive at the Black Faith Order headquarters in Hunderra tomorrow, Archbishop Ezekiel will no doubt tell you everything."
Robin could tell there was a deeper secret here. Pressing further now would be pointless.
There was no rush—he could wait a little longer to ask about the Soul Capturing Technique of the Netheris Domain.
"Very well. As agreed, I'll arrive at the Black Faith Order headquarters in Hunderra tomorrow."
Corwin let out a long breath of relief. "Thank you! I'll return to the headquarters immediately to inform Archbishop Ezekiel of your arrival.
"Your presence at Hunderra headquarters would be the greatest honor our Order could receive.
"If it pleases you, we would also like to invite you to attend the coronation ceremony for Young Lord Fairfax, who is advancing to Peak Warrior. It would mean everything to us if you would bestow the Peak Warrior crown upon him yourself as our most honored guest."
Everyone present understood the significance: for a Grandmaster from the Crownward Syndicate to personally crown the Black Faith Order's Young Lord Fairfax would be a monumental honor.
If the Order's leader, Archbishop Ezekiel, and the Young Lord Fairfax heard of this, Corwin would surely be handsomely rewarded.
Corwin looked up at Robin's expressionless face, full of anticipation.
Robin nodded. "Alright. I'll consider it when I arrive tomorrow."
Corwin was overjoyed. That basically meant Robin had accepted.
If the Young Lord Fairfax used the opportunity to formally acknowledge Robin as his master, it could open the path for him to serve in the Crownward Syndicate someday.
Such a connection would skyrocket the Black Faith Order's status within the Netheris.
"Thank you, Master!" Corwin said gratefully. He reached into his robes and took out a deep emerald seal, lifting it above his head.
"This emerald seal is the highest symbol of authority in the Black Faith Order. Only our most esteemed guests may possess one.
"There are only three seals in Rosha's 18 cities. My lord, please accept this one."
Gasps spread across the square in front of Gyro Castle.
Everyone there understood just how precious this emerald seal was.
In all of Rosha, only the royal family and the duchy of Hunderra possessed one.
No one else had ever been qualified to receive such an honor.
Corwin was now presenting the third Blackfaith Seal to Robin, proving just how revered his presence was within the Black Faith Order.
"Very well. I'll hold on to it for now." Robin took the Blackfaith Seal and casually tossed it to Daphne.
Corwin bowed again. "Thank you! The Black Faith Order awaits your arrival at the Hunderra headquarters."
After the three guardians and the rest of the Order's members paid their respects and took their leave, Caius and his officials fell to their knees.
"Congratulations, my lord, on receiving the Blackfaith Seal!
"You've slain Evander and protected Gyro Castle. We owe you our deepest gratitude.
"To show our thanks for saving us, the major families of Gyro Castle have prepared this Black Gold Card from the Netheris Exchange. It holds 500 million—please accept it."
Robin accepted the card and turned to leave for the inn.
Caius rose and leaned in to whisper, "Master, I know a little about Archmage Varryn's background."
Robin followed him back into Gyro Castle.
