Chapter 374
Emily’s distressed voice kept coming through the earpiece, every word cutting into Austin’s heart like a knife. He shot the men a cold, steely glare, without wasting a single word, and swung a punch straight at the leader.
He had to end this fast-he needed to save Emily.
Meanwhile, Emily seemed to have completely shut herself off from the world, lashing out at anyone who tried to get close.
She grabbed a stool and hurled it at the man coming toward her, but her nerves were frayed-she missed and only managed to hit his arm.
That just pissed the man off even more, and he charged at Emily even more viciously.
Isolde’s gaze turned cold, and she was about to make a move when she saw that Emily had already launched a counterattack.
Back at St. Gabriel Reform Academy, Emily was always on edge, ready for danger at any moment. So when the man lunged at her, her body acted on pure instinct-she reacted before her mind even had time to think.
Emily had never been formally trained to fight, but the survival instincts she’d honed through countless real fights were far fiercer than any textbook fighting skills.
The five men never expected Emily to put up a fight. Each of them got smacked around, and for quite a while, none of them could even get close to her.
But at the end of the day, Emily was still just a girl. Once the five men got serious and started watching out for her moves, she was quickly overwhelmed.
Just as one of the men was about to grab Emily, out of nowhere, a foot suddenly lashed out and struck his abdomen with at powerful blow.
The man flew back and crashed into the wall with a heavy thud, not getting up for a long while.
Everyone was stunned. When they turned, they saw Isolde standing protectively in front of Emily. She was the one who’d just delivered that kick.
Sean was still doubled over from Emily’s earlier kick. He stared at Isolde in utter shock and said, “You dare to betray me?”
Isolde’s expression was icy as ever, but now the hatred and disgust in her eyes were clear as day. She said, “I was never loyal to you. So how could I betray you?”
Realization finally dawned on Sean. He exclaimed, “Is this because of Deborah? You bitch, you’ve been playing me this whole time.”
