Chapter 365
Emily kept the visit from Isolde a secret. The next day, when her team noticed the band-aid on her neck, Emily just explained that she had accidentally cut herself while moving something.
Emily was a bit late to the office because she had been dealing with the news Isolde brought the night before.
As soon as she walked into the office, she saw Lydia in the middle of the team, while everyone crowded around her and showered her with envious praise.
One said, “Lydia, you’re incredible. You got noticed by Amy.”
Another echoed, “That’s Amy! So many big names in the industry can’t even get a chance to meet her, and she’s taking a special interest in you.”
Someone said, “I heard Amy wants to take you on as her last disciple. Is that true?”
Emily had seen scenes like this more times than she could count. She was a little surprised to hear Amy’s name come up, but she didn’t think much of it.
Emily went to her desk, turned on her computer, and got ready to work. She had no intention of joining their conversation.
But Lydia, who noticed Emily’s arrival, clearly had different ideas in mind.
Lydia pretended to remember something suddenly and called out, “Oh, right. Emily, if I remember correctly, Amy is the person you admire the most, right?”
Lydia stepped out of the crowd and walked over to Emily’s desk. She put on an air of magnanimity as she said, “I remember your biggest wish is for Amy to appreciate your work.
Even though Amy is busy, I suppose I could ask her to take a look at your work while she’s reviewing mine. Emily, do you need my help?”
If it were anyone else in the industry, they would probably be thrilled at the opportunity and would be falling over hemselves to thank Lydia.
However, Emily didn’t even look up. She replied flatly, “Amy wouldn’t give you the time of day.”
Emily knew exactly how Lydia’s painting skills really were.
