Chapter 354

So, seeing him like this now, even the Bennett Family couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt. But the next second, Lydia suddenly burst out in a pitiful, dramatic wail.

“It’s all because of me. If I hadn’t come back, Emily wouldn’t have had the chance to turn Lucas against the family and stir up all this trouble. It’s all my fault.

“Just let me die. If I’m dead, none of this will be a problem anymore. Please.” Lydia sobbed, her voice choked with tears.

She started struggling in Vincent’s arms again. But all her struggling did was make her rock back and forth in Vincent’s embrace. She didn’t actually try to move forward at all, just putting on a show.

And yet, out of everyone there, only Lucas saw through her act. Vincent’s heart ached for Lydia. He shot Lucas a fierce glare, looking like he wanted to scold him too. But he wasn’t really one of them.

He forced down his anger and came up with a fair solution. “Since Lucas is so sure the test results are real, and no one else believes him, why don’t we just take new samples right now and do the test again?

“We’ll all wait together, so no one will have a chance to tamper with anything. With the Bennett Family’s resources, I’m sure we’ll get the results back quickly.”

Vincent’s suggestion made perfect sense. It was the best way to handle the situation right now, and no one had any objections. Except for Lydia, who looked up in shock, her face full of disbelief.

‘Isn’t he supposed to be on my side, just like the rest of the Bennett Family? Shouldn’t he be angry and disappointed in Lucas, standing up for me?

‘He’s been quiet this whole time, and now that he’s finally speaking up. Is he actually helping Lucas? What’s going on?’ she thought.

Out of nowhere, a wave of panic surged through Lydia-worse even than when she realized Vincent had caught her out with Jeremy.
