Marian wore an aqua dress, a thin blanket draped over her shoulders. She looked as beautiful and elegant as in her photos.
In her arms was Liza, barely a year old.
"Mom?" Fermin froze.
"Where's the bottle?" Marian searched the living room.
A maid brought a bottle from the kitchen and handed it to her. "Here it is, Madam."
"Thank goodness. I couldn't find it anywhere," Marian muttered, feeding the fussing baby.
"Mom..." Fermin couldn't believe his eyes.
"What's wrong, honey?" Marian looked at him, puzzled. "Are your classes too much? I told your dad not to push you so hard, but he never listens. Screw today's lessons. He's smart enough and doesn't need all that extra stuff."
The secretary hesitated. "Madam, I'm not sure that's okay."
"Why not?" Marian retorted. "He's my kid, and I won't let him suffer."
She swept the finance books off the desk. "Come on. Let's hit the amusement park."
"Mom..." Fermin wanted to protest.
Today's lessons were important.
Marian handed Liza to the maid. "I'm taking my son out. If Bert's got a problem, he can come talk to me."
