They prepared to leave.
Just then, some police cars rolled in, led by Pedro. He ordered his team to handle the ship's wreckage and scattered bodies.
The sky darkened.
Solomon and I had nowhere else to go, so we followed them.
At first, we thought we'd slipped under the radar, hiding beneath the van. But once the van hit the road, we realized they knew.
Randy floored it, speeding like a maniac.
By the time we arrived, Solomon and I couldn't hold it together. We stumbled out, puking our guts out.
Randy hopped out, grinning at our misery. "Couldn't hack it, huh? And you thought you could take us on? Come back in a decade."
I retched, the world spinning. Solomon fared slightly better but still hurled.
Debra stepped forward. "I let you go, and you chase us down? You really got a death wish?"
"Mom..." My head was fuzzy, blurring the line between dream and reality.
The sight of her youthful face snapped me back. This was a dream, and these were adults in their prime.
I had never seen this wild side of her before. In my memories, she was always so gentle.
