Chapter 18 

Rylan and the Harts came running in right after. Meredith collapsed on the ground the second she saw what was going on, bawling her eyes out. “How could you do something like this, Catherine?” 

Donovan was seething as he glared at Catherine. “How could you do something so cruel, you ungrateful wretch? The Hart family doesn’t raise monsters like you.” 

Rylan looked stricken with guilt and worry. He fixed his gaze on the knife in Catherine’s hand, afraid she might snap and hurt Gigi. His voice was barely above a whisper. “If you’ve got a problem, take it out on me, Catherine. Gigi has nothing to do with this. Let her go.” 

Catherine took in everyone’s reactions as her eyes gleamed with madness. She waved the knife and shouted like a madwoman, “It’s all her fault. She took everything from me–my family, my beloved.” 

Her eyes turned cold and vicious. She swept her gaze across the crowd and yelled, “Fine! If she means that much to you, then get on your knees.” 

Gigi stared at Catherine in disbelief. “Have you lost your mind-‘ 

Before Gigi could finish her sentence, Wesley was the first to drop to his knees, followed quickly by Anthony, Julia, and Rylan. Then Donovan, Meredith, and Kenny joined them. 

“We did what you asked. Just leave Gigi alone.” 

Watching the scene unfold, Gigi was flabbergasted. 

Catherine didn’t calm down after seeing them drop to their knees. If anything, it pushed her even further over the edge. “You lot really love Gigi that much? Is she worth getting on your knees for?” 

Catherine looked over at Rylan and the Harts, her eyes filled with sorrow and hysteria. “What about me, Dad, Mom, Kenny, Rylan? You used to care about me more than anyone else.
