Chapter 20
Something huge went down in Veritas three days later–Donovan and Meredith had sent Catherine to prison. They wrestled with intense emotional turmoil before making their decision.
They watched as the police took Catherine away. Meredith couldn’t hold back her tears and buried her face in her hands. Donovan looked heartbroken, his gaze a mix of resignation and resolve.
They never imagined that Catherine, the daughter they once doted on, would end up beyond saving.
Hearing the news, Gigi felt a flood of conflicting emotions stir inside her.
But the sentiment only lasted for a moment. After all, the moment she decided to leave, she had already made up her mind to cut ties with Rylan and the Harts.
Meanwhile, Anthony, Julia, and Wesley gradually recovered after being discharged.
One day, Wesley told Gigi to follow him with a knowing smile. Feeling intrigued, she followed him to a garden that looked like it belonged in a fantasy world.
The garden was a sea of blossoms. A path of petals led to a stage decked out in colorful lights and balloons. Her favorite lilies surrounded the area, their sweet scent hanging in the air.
She stared in awe at everything in front of her. Before she could even react, music slowly began to play.
Wesley walked up to Gigi and got down on one knee with a bouquet of roses in his hand. He looked at her like she was his whole world and said, “You’ve been rewriting my story since the day we met, Gigi.
“You’ve become the light of my life. I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life protecting you. Will you be mine?”
As she met his earnest gaze, she could feel his love engulfing her.
