Chapter 188: Escape to Foreign Territory

(Aria’s POV)

I jolted awake from a nightmare, my heart hammering against my ribs as cold sweat beaded on my forehead. My hand instinctively flew to my belly, desperately searching for any sign of movement from the pup within me. My pregnant wolf whimpered anxiously, sharing my terror from the vivid dream of losing our child.

Please be okay,I whispered, pressing my palms against the curve of my abdomen.

Relief flooded through me as I felt a gentle flutter the pup was moving, alive and well. It was just a nightmare, nothing more. But as the fog of sleep cleared from my mind, reality crashed back with crushing

force.

This wasn’t my comfortable bed at Moon Valley Residences. This wasn’t safety.

I looked around the unfamiliar space with growing panic. The room was simple but clean, clearly a cheap rental with basic furniture and faded wallpaper. Through the single window, I could see shipping containers stacked high in the distance and hear the distant sound of machinery.

A port,” I realized with dread. He’s brought me to a port.

Where was Alexander? My wolf’s enhanced hearing picked up muffled voices outside the door multiple men speaking in low tones. Guards, definitely guards.

My pregnant wolf cowered as the implications hit me. We were trapped, far from any pack territory I recognized, with armed men preventing our escape.

I approached the door cautiously, my bare feet silent on the worn carpet. The voices became clearer as I pressed my ear against the wood.

How much longer until the ship arrives?one voice asked.

Soon,” another replied. Boss says to keep her sedated until then.

What about the Alpha who’s been tracking us?

Let him come. By the time he figures out where we’ve gone, we’ll be halfway across the ocean.”

My blood ran cold. They were planning to put me on a ship, to take me somewhere even farther from Dominic and my family. I had to escape now, before it was too late.

I retreated from the door and frantically searched for another way out. The window was my only option, but

thick metal bars blocked it, secured with what looked like a rusty security screen.

Please,” I prayed silently, examining the barrier more closely.

Hope surged through me as I realized the screen wasn’t actually locked it was merely secured with a loosely

twisted piece of wire. With enough patience and care, I might be able to work it free.

I began carefully manipulating the wire, my fingers trembling with urgency. Each tiny movement felt like it took an eternity, but gradually the metal began to give way.

Heavy footsteps echoed in the hallway outside, growing closer to my door. Panic shot through me like

lightning, and 1 abandoned my work, rushing back to the bed. I threw myself under the thin blanket and forced my breathing to slow, feigning sleep as my heart pounded against my ribs.

The door creaked open, and Alexander’s familiar scent filled the room. My wolf recoiled instinctively from his presence, every instinct screaming danger.

Is she awake?Alexander asked, his voice carrying that same unsettling calm from the car.

Doesn’t seem like it,someone replied. The sedative should keep her out for a few more hours.

I felt a hand gently stroking my face, Alexander’s fingers tracing my cheek with possessive tenderness. My skin crawled at his touch, but I forced myself to remain still, my breathing steady and deep.

My beautiful mate,he murmured, his voice filled with delusional affection. Soon we’ll be somewhere new, somewhere we can start over properly.

His words made my stomach turn, but I maintained my facade of unconsciousness. After what felt like

hours, he finally withdrew his hand and moved away from the bed.

Double the guard,he ordered as he headed toward the door. I don’t want any mistakes.

Yes, sir,the other voice responded.

The door closed with a soft click, and I listened intently as their footsteps faded down the hallway. Only when

I was certain they were gone did I dare to breathe normally again.

I strained my enhanced hearing, catching snippets of their conversation from somewhere nearby.

Any news? When does the ship arrive?

Soon. Another hour at most.

Hurry them up. They’ll be catching up to us soon.”

An hour. I had less than an hour before they put me on that ship and took me away from everything I knew

and loved.

I slipped out of bed and returned to the window, my pregnant wolf driving me with desperate determination.

The wire was already partially loosened from my earlier work, and I attacked it with renewed urgency.

Come on,I whispered, my fingers working frantically. Please, please come loose.

After several agonizing minutes, the wire finally gave way completely. I carefully opened the security screen, wincing as the old metal squeaked softly. The opening was just large enough for me to squeeze through, though my growing belly made it a tight fit.

J slipped through the window and dropped to the ground below, my legs shaking from adrenaline and fear. Quickly, I pulled the screen closed behind me and twisted the wire back into place, hoping to delay their

discovery of my escape.

The port sprawled before me like a mechanical maze. Shipping containers towered in every direction, creating a labyrinth of metal walls and narrow passages. The acrid smell of diesel fuel and salt water filled

my nostrils as I tried to orient myself.

I had no idea which direction to go, but I knew I had to move. My pregnant wolf urged me forward, seeking safety for our pup even as exhaustion weighed down my limbs.

Behind me, Alexander’s furious shouts suddenly erupted from the building I’d just escaped. She’s gone! Find

her! Search every container, every hiding spot!

Terror shot through me like electricity. He’d discovered my escape far sooner than I’d hoped. I could hear multiple sets of footsteps spreading out, searching for me with systematic efficiency.

I stumbled through the container maze, my pregnancy making me clumsy and slow. Each turn looked. identical to the last, and I quickly became hopelessly lost among the towering metal structures.

Where are you hiding?Alexander’s voice echoed off the containers, closer than before. You can’t run

forever, Aria. Not in your condition.

His words spurred me to greater desperation. I spotted a group of workers loading cargo nearby, their movements efficient and purposeful. Without hesitation, I darted toward them, staying low and using parked

equipment for cover.

An open container sat nearby, its doors yawning wide as workers prepared to load it. The sound of pursuit

grew closer, Alexander’s men spreading through the port like hunting wolves.

I didn’t hesitate. I slipped inside the container and pressed myself against the far wall, my pregnant wolf

trying to make our presence as small as possible. The metal space was cramped and dark, filled with the lingering scent of previous cargo.

Check that container,” someone shouted nearby. And that one too.

I held my breath, my heart hammering so loudly I was certain they’d hear it. Footsteps approached the

container entrance, and I pressed myself further into the shadows.

Empty,” a voice called out. Move to the next row.

Relief flooded through me as the footsteps moved away, but I knew I couldn’t stay hidden forever. My pregnant wolf whimpered softly, sharing my fear and exhaustion.

After what felt like an eternity, the container suddenly lurched violently. I was thrown against the wall as the

entire structure lifted into the air, accompanied by the mechanical whine of heavy machinery.

What’s happening?I whispered, my voice barely audible even to myself.

A disorienting sense of weightlessness followed, and I realized with growing horror that the container was

being moved. A loud clunk signaled its placement somewhere new, followed by the rumbling vibration of

engines.

Even if it meant being shipped to another territory, it was better than being caught by Alexander. At least this

way, I had a chance to escape, to find help, to contact Dominic somehow.
