Kaleb curled his lips. He took a glance at the suitcase before saying with a smile, "Mr. Roberts, you and I are old friends. I trust you, of course."
He looked at me as he said that. It was just a glance, but I understood immediately.
Before we'd arrived, Tiago had asked me to be on a lookout for a chance to snatch the suitcase.
After a moment's hesitation, I stood up and stretched out my hand to grab it.
A large palm suddenly caught hold of my hand, as soon as I touched the case. My senses went a little haywire as I felt that familiar rush of warmth.
"What's the rush? Mr. Becker, you should also let us have a look, right?" Hendrix said, slightly loosening his grip on mine. It felt like he was gently holding my hand.
I was a little flustered. I tried to pull my hand back, but my efforts were futile.
Kaleb cocked his eyebrows with a smile. "Mr. Roberts, you're still as cautious as ever."
As he spoke, he raised a hand and pulled me back to my seat. In a blink of an eye, he suddenly pulled me into his arms, and kissed me.
I couldn't react at all. It was far too sudden.
He only released me a few seconds later, after I felt his body reacting to mine.
He was already holding the necklace in his hand. I came to my senses and looked at Hendrix instinctively.
His face had completely darkened, and the gloomy light above gave him a sense of hostility.
"Mr. Roberts, what kind of expression is that?" Kaleb said, "This necklace is too beautiful. I just wanted my lady companion to try it on. I don't mean anything else by it. I'll still give you whatever I owe."
As he spoke, he handed the necklace in his hand to Hendrix.
I frowned. Tiago had given me this necklace before I came. He had asked me to keep it well, and not to lose it.
So, Hendrix was here for this necklace?
Hendrix pursed his lips without saying anything. He simply shot an indifferent glance towards Evan.
Evan took the necklace from him and examined it carefully. Then, he looked at Hendrix and gave him a nod.
However, before I could act, my waist was abruptly struck by something hard.
Kaleb's voice rang deeply beside my ear. "Take the suitcase and leave. Don't try anything funny. I wouldn't mind killing again."
The night club seemed to have quieted down once I realized that the situation was escalating. More than half of the men and women who'd been fooling around suddenly had their guns pointed at Kaleb.
Kaleb narrowed his eyes and let out a cold laugh. "Mr. Roberts, you're quite well prepared!"
Hendrix did not look at him. Instead, he turned to me. "I'll let you go if you let go of her."
"Just her?" Kaleb laughed again. "It seems that my intel was pretty accurate."
As he said so, he leaned into my ear. He whispered ambiguously to me, "Baby, you're my shield now. Thank you for your hard work."
I pursed my lips as he wrapped his arms around me tightly. He raised his hand and pointed the gun originally at my waist right towards my temple.
I would've been lying if I said that I wasn't afraid. But truth be told, I was terrified out of my wits and there was absolutely nothing I could do.
