My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 912

He was definitely not just here for a drink.

Kaleb frowned, and I looked towards the direction I had noticed him frowning at.

My body stiffened all of a sudden and I felt a strong surge of emotions. In that moment, a warm and indescribable feeling welled up in my heart.

The person I hadn't seen in several months had appeared, like an angel. I was so shocked that I couldn't react.

I watched him as he entered the red-light district before coming to sit with us. Evan, who was next to him, looked grim and serious. I could tell that he wasn't here for leisure purposes.

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed that Kaleb had reached for his waist. I was stunned.

I was all too familiar with what he had hidden. A gun. I had seen it too many times.

Astounded, I looked towards Hendrix's direction uneasily. It seemed that he was looking for someone, his cold expression repelling the people around him.

"Mr. Kaleb, you..."

"Shut up!"

He shot me a glare as he said that.

Though I was stunned, I was too preoccupied with wondering why Hendrix was here. What had he come here for?

Was it here for me?

If Michael hadn't told the others about my disappearance back home, no one would have known. Besides, even if he wanted to look for me, how could he have possibly found me here?

My mind was full of doubts, but addressing them wasn't my priority.

Instead, I wanted to know what on earth Kaleb planned to do to Hendrix.

Suddenly, my wrist was grabbed by someone, and I sobered up as I realized it was Kaleb.

He raised his hand to remove his earpiece and said, "Stay low. Let's see how many people he came with."

I had thought that he brought me here as protection if required, but it seemed things weren't as simple as I thought.

What grudge did he hold against Hendrix?

"Did you bring it here, Mr. Roberts?" Kaleb asked without beating around the rush.

Hendrix raised his eyebrows. There was indiscernible fatigue between his sculpted brows. He looked like he had been tired for a long while.

"Mr. Kaleb, mind introducing us?" He said, regarding me questioningly, as if I was a stranger.

Staring at him, Kaleb's lips hooked into a smile. "She's my escort!"

Hendrix nodded, as if he didn't have much interest in me.

He glanced over at Evan.

A moment later, Evan placed the black suitcase in his hand on the table, his eyebrows raised. "Mr. Kaleb, would you like to examine them here?"
