“Police Officer, I’ve told you, the place was an abandoned construction site…”
The police immediately sent people to analyze the scene, and soon, they located the specific location and dispatched a rescue team.
However, when they returned, their faces were filled with disappointment.
“There was no one at the scene, just a pool of blood.”
Upon hearing this, Parker’s mother fainted.
Parker’s father’s pupils dilated, his expression one of disbelief.
Because of the kidnapping case, all three members of the Parker family were suspects, and the police temporarily detained them.
Mia shrank into a corner, the marks from the slap still visible on her face.
Parker’s mother was in a dazed state, muttering Parker Charlotte’s name over and over.
Parker’s father sat wearily on a chair, glaring at Mia.
Mia, unwilling to give up, cautiously began to act spoiled.
“Dad, Mom, my face hurts so much!”
“Dad, you and Mom have loved me so much over the years, never willing to hit me, but tonight, because of my sister, you two hit me so hard! You’ve always said I was your precious darling.”
“Everything you’ve done for me, was it all fake?”
Parker’s father gave a cold laugh.
Yet, because of Parker Charlotte’s disappearance, he was deeply filled with self-blame, his expression complicated.
After a moment of hesitation, he coldly responded to Mia.
“I can’t deny that when we adopted you, we did have selfish motives.”
“You’re beautiful, with great poise. You were the perfect candidate to inherit the Parker family.”
“Your sister Charlotte, because of our neglect when she was younger, suffered burns in a fire. She may not be ugly, but her image has been damaged.”
“But that doesn’t mean we don’t love her!”
“When we adopted you, we thought you would be the face of the family, while your sister would manage the group behind the scenes. One of you would handle the outside world, while the other would manage things at home.”
“Out of guilt for you, we’ve spared no effort in raising and pampering you, but how have you repaid us?”
Parker’s father suddenly stood up, glaring at Mia.
“I warn you, if anything happens to Charlotte, the first person I’ll strangle is you! To me, you are nothing but a substitute for Charlotte!”
These words struck Mia like a heavy hammer to the chest.
The identity she had always been proud of turned out to be nothing more than someone else’s replacement.
“You all should spend less time praying and more time thinking about how you’re going to make up for your actions when your daughter comes back. As police officers, even we can’t tolerate what you’ve done.”
Parker’s father kept apologizing, saying that once they found their daughter, they would repent and let her live a life of luxury.
Mia wanted to speak, but Parker’s father shot her a glare. She lowered her head, a flash of resentment in her eyes.
A day passed, and the Parker family was released from detention. They eagerly awaited a response from the police.
But after the police spoke, the blood drained from the faces of Parker’s father and mother.
“After a day of rescue, we’ve finally saved your daughter Parker Charlotte. However, she doesn’t want to see you right now.”
At first, her mother refused to believe it, desperately trying to call, but when she heard the cold busy signal, her face turned ashen.
“Daughter, why won’t you answer the phone?”
While her parents were asking the police about her whereabouts, Charlotte had already booked a flight to study abroad using a reward money.
In this kidnapping case, Mia used the ransom to exchange for a life. When the kidnappers planned to dispose of Charlotte, she quickly came up with an idea and suggested going to Myanmar.
The kidnappers, thinking it would be a waste of bullets to kill her and fearing the consequences of murder, decided to sell her instead for money.
As for the blood, it was purely a coincidence.
A wild dog, searching for food, entered the abandoned construction site and bit one of the kidnappers. The kidnapper, in desperation, shot his gun.
