Selina felt a jolt in her heart, followed by a warm sensation welling up inside her.
Although marrying was merely a last resort, she had to admit that Ryan’s younger uncle was far more like a decent person than Ryan himself.
"Thank you for helping me earlier. Was it you who asked Grandpa Carter to come?"
"Yeah, I made a call."
Selina recalled Grandpa Carter mentioning that his youngest son was too busy and left right after the call. Clicking her tongue, she remarked, "Grandpa Carter was just inside earlier. Why didn’t you go in to see him?"
What kind of son behaves like this?
Logan narrowed his eyes slightly.
Strange. Old Mr. Carter wasn’t related to him, so why would he need to go in?
That peculiar suspicion surfaced again. It seemed his new wife might have misunderstood his relationship with the Carter family.
Logan subtly shifted the topic. "I’m surprised that Miss Clark actually gave up the spot as an award presenter."
Selina: "..."
Her expression froze momentarily. What did he mean by that? Did Logan think she was joking when she said she didn’t mind? Did she look that petty?
Selina explained, "Being associated with Ryan feels like bad luck, and besides..."
Besides, she worried that if things escalated, Grandpa Carter would feel upset.
The spot had been granted to her by Old Mr. Carter. If he turned around and gave it to Natalia instead, stirring up trouble would only make the old man feel guilty.
Logan caught the unspoken words in her expression and raised an eyebrow in surprise.
So, she tolerated Natalia because of this? He had assumed she was like a little hedgehog, but it turned out her temper was much softer than he thought.
An hour later, Logan dropped her off at Sapphire Valley Villa. Just as he was about to step out of the car, Ethan’s call came through.
"Logan, it’s time for your follow-up at the hospital."
A rare flash of impatience crossed Logan’s eyes.
Ethan sighed on the other end of the line. "You can’t just ignore your health. Come on, let the doctor take a look. You’re still young; it can be treated."
Selina fell silent, her expression turning horrified. "..."
What’s this about ignoring his health? Still young? Can be treated?
Logan was perfectly healthy with all four limbs intact. What kind of condition required frequent hospital follow-ups? The only thing she could think of was his unspeakable... private issue!
To just say it out loud like this in front of her—was that really okay?
Selina’s face flushed red. She quickly got out of the car. "Mr. Reid, Dr. Drake is right. With modern medical advancements, even the smallest issues can definitely be treated. You should go now."
With that, she bolted away like a rabbit, disappearing in no time.
Logan ended the call, a dangerous glint flashing in his eyes.
His dear Mrs. Reid seemed to have far too many misunderstandings about him.
The Miller butler had prepared afternoon tea for Selina. After finishing it, she went straight upstairs and took a nap.
When she woke up and turned to look outside, the sky was already pitch black.
Selina wasn’t sure if Logan had come back yet, but she figured that kind of condition wouldn’t be resolved so quickly anyway.
She headed downstairs for dinner, but as soon as she stepped onto the stairs, she heard a sharp female voice—
