Romina understood that River was trying to protect the children, and she respected that. 
The two of them coordinated and issued separate but aligned statements to avoid raising suspicions of dishonesty. 
And truly, their encounter had been a coincidence. 
Just as Romina was about to hang up, River asked, “So, are you still arranging my blind date at noon? And what about those ten sets of clothes you promised me as compensation? Are you bringing them to lunch, or do I get them another time?” 
Romina fell silent for a moment, then replied, “Same place as always. The blind date is at Eaglioncile Hotel—it’s one of the Lafond family’s hotels. The security’s tight, and I’ve already instructed the staff to keep it discreet. As the Lafond family’s eldest daughter, they know better than to leak anything.” 
River exhaled in relief. 
His biggest fear was that the gossip would make Romina cancel their lunch. 
Thankfully, she didn’t. 
And it helped that he’d gotten everything in writing. They had a signed agreement, and she couldn’t go back on it, even if she wanted to. 
If she tried to back out, he’d march straight to Grandpa Lafond and complain. 
“Great,” River said with a grin. “Thanks in advance for setting me up.” 
Romina, of course, didn’t feel like thanking him. 
Wasn’t it his idea to hold her accountable for supposedly ruining his reputation? Now she had to act as his matchmaker and find suitable blind dates? 
Sigh… She had no one to blame but herself. 
Why had she gotten drunk that night? 
Alcohol really messes things up. 
She silently vowed never to make such a careless mistake again. 
After hanging up, Romina began to worry. Who should she send on a blind date with River? 
She knew there were several young women in the Lafond Group who had developed crushes on him after seeing him—despite the fact that he was supposed to be their company’s business rival. 
He did storm into the Lafond Group offices from time to time, furious over some dispute or another, just to argue with her. And those encounters didn’t go unnoticed. 
Unfortunately, River had a dangerously charming face. 
A face that could make young women lose their minds. 
After a few minutes, Romina pressed her intercom and called in her secretary. 
Soon, there was a knock at the door. 
Her secretary walked in. “Vice President, what can I help you with?” 
Romina’s secretary, Amia, was the younger sister of her longtime best friend. 
She’d joined the Lafond Group fresh out of college and had worked under Romina for about three or four years now. 
Although Amia came from a wealthy family herself, she had chosen not to join the family business. Instead, her sister had asked Romina to take her in. 
Romina agreed, and thankfully, Amia had proven to be professional and competent. She kept her distance at work and never acted entitled. Most employees didn’t even know she was connected to Romina’s best friend. 
“Amia,” Romina said, “I need a bit of advice. Mind helping me out?” 
Amia blinked in surprise. “The vice president needs my advice?” 
Romina hesitated, then asked, “Within our company… do you know of anyone who has a crush on River?” 
Amia froze, caught off guard by the question. 
Before she could decide whether to answer honestly, Romina added, “Don’t worry, I’m not planning to fire anyone. I made a deal with River—I’m arranging blind dates for him. Two a day. One at noon and another in the evening. 
There are plenty of unmarried women in our company. I figured if anyone’s interested in River, I might as well give them a chance.”
