reston stood there, staring down at Georgia sprawled across the bed. Her face carried an expression of resigned surrender. Even with his fingers wrapped tight around her throat, she made no attempt to fight back
A sharp, unfamiliar pain lanced through his chest. In his mind, Luca roared with unrestrained fury, surging forward, trying
to seize control. The wolf refused to let him hurt their mate like this.
Preston grit his teeth against the tearing agony in his skull and tightened his grip on her neck
“Why won’t you fight me back?” he bellowed, his voice cracking with rage. “Why!”
Did she truly want death so desperately? No–she cared so deeply about Mason. Was she really choosing death over even the slightest plea for mercy?
He didn’t realize jealousy burned within him, jealousy so feral it consumed his sanity. He thrashed like a boy denied his favorite toy, desperate to claim what he believed was his
It was agony to hurt her like this, yet a twisted satisfaction pulsed through him. Deep down, he craved her submission.
But what he really wanted was not her fear or pleas. What he wanted was her loyalty. Her devotion. Her soul turned entirely toward him.
Luca’s torment rose to a breaking point. The wolf clawed at Preston’s mind, shoving and tearing, determined to protect Georgia from his violent rage.
The splitting pain forced Preston’s fury to falter. His massive frame bent over her fragile body as he released her throat. He looked down at her like she was something small and breakable beneath him. His lips curled into a dark, mocking smile.
“Sleep with me tonight, and I’ll give you your four hundred thousand dollars.”
He thought bitterly, “Georgia, since you love money so much let’s see what matters more to you–Mason or money.”

His eyes glinted with cold cruelty. “You love money, don’t you? You were ready to die for four hundred grand. Sleep with me tonight. I’ll pay you what you want.”

Finally, she spoke. “No.”
His eyes narrowed dangerously. “What?”
She met his gaze again, her voice firm despite her trembling body. “No. I said no.”
For Mason? Was it really for Mason that she could reject the money she so desperately needed?
Rage seethed in his veins, mingling with a savage hunger. Suddenly he crushed his mouth to hers, kissing her with punishing force.
This cursed mouth. These lips that had dared utter words that scraped raw across his sanity.
Her lips were chapped and rough against his, yet to him, they tasted unbearably sweet. She was his mate.
Even as Preston tried to deny it, Luca howled in fierce yearning. The wolf wanted to claim her, to mark her as theirs forever. It could no longer sense her wolf’s presence, but it didn’t matter–Luca’s need to bond with her screamed in Preston’s
chest.
His eyes snapped open. She belonged to him.
Georgia squirmed beneath him, trying to push him away, but his weight and dominance crushed down on her like an iron
cage.
Then–smack.

A deafening silence followed. Preston froze, staring at her in stunned disbelief.
Her hand trembled violently after striking his cheek, and her eyes widened in terror at what she’d done.
He sat back slowly, his expression unreadable, his lips pressed into a harsh, thin line. The Alpha of Dark Spike Pack had just been slapped by a woman for the first time in his life.
Without a word, he climbed off the bed, turned his back to her, and muttered coldly, “Change your pants. You’re soaking my sheets.”
“I told you, I’m not sick.”
A knock came at the door.
