Hiding His Alpha Twins novel Chapter 29

Catarina’s POV

I had barely begun my packing when I sat on the edge of the bed thinking how lucky I was. Tears were falling from my eyes as I thought about how far I had come since finding my ex-mate with that so called friend of mine.

Lochlan had made me question my worth and left me feeling undeserving of love. His harsh words and neglectful actions had eroded my self-esteem over time. But Alex, my current partner, had shown me a love so pure and profound that it had the power to heal the wounds of my past.

The tears continued to flow from my eyes, but this time they were tears of gratitude. I knew how fortunate I was to have found someone like Alex, who treated me with kindness, respect, and unconditional love. He had shown me that true love exists and that I deserved to be cherished.

I was so lost in my own thoughts that I hadn’t expected the twins to run in.

Surprised by their sudden arrival, I quickly wiped away my tears and put on a smile. "Hey there, my little adventurers," I greeted them, trying to hide any trace of my previous emotions. "What's got you so excited?"

"Mommy, mommy!" they exclaimed in unison, their voices filled with unrestrained enthusiasm. "Guess what? Mindy's taking us to the park!"

I couldn't help but laugh at their contagious energy. The twins were always a source of joy, their innocent exuberance lighting up the room. "That's wonderful, darlings! You two are so lucky to have Mindy. Go on, have a great time at the park and make sure to thank her for taking you."

"Mummy, we are so excited to go on holiday; why are you crying?" Nadia wiped my cheeks, and her little face was concerned; I smiled at my daughter and assured her I was ok. I just felt so happy and damn lucky. "Oh, my sweetheart, it’s not sad tears. I’m just so happy to have you all in my life." I sighed, pulling her into my lap. "Mummy, will that nasty man take us away from you?" Nathan asked. My ears pricked up at the sound of his words. "What do you mean?" I asked. He looked thoughtful for a moment as if processing the words in his head that he wanted to say. "You said he was our daddy, but I want Alex to be our daddy," Nathan stated.

I felt a lump form in my throat as my son's innocent words hit me like a punch to the gut.

I took a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts. "Nathan, sweetheart, sometimes things don't work out how we want them to," I began, choosing my words carefully. "Your daddy is a person who helped bring you and Nadia into this world, but he isn't here with us anymore. Alex loves us very much and has chosen to be part of our family. He may not be your biological father, but he is a dad in every sense."

Nathan's young face scrunched up, trying to understand. "But why isn't our real daddy here?"

I swallowed the lump, struggling to find the right words. "Sometimes, people make choices that aren't the best for themselves or the people they love," I explained gently. "Your real daddy made some choices that made it impossible for him to be a part of our lives. It's sad, but we have each other, and that's what's important."

Nadia, who had been listening intently, chimed in. "Alex is a very nice man, Mummy. I like him a lot."

I smiled at my daughter's innocence, grateful for her ability to accept and love without any complications. "Yes, sweetie, Alex is an exceptional person," I said, tousling her hair. "He loves and cares for us, and that's what a daddy does."

"Thank you, Mindy," I expressed with heartfelt appreciation. "I truly don't know what I would do without your assistance. Your help means the world to me, especially during these busy times."

Mindy smiled warmly in response, her nurturing nature shining through. "It's my pleasure, madam. Caring for the little ones brings me joy and seeing them happy and active is always a delight. Besides, it gives you some uninterrupted time to focus on packing."

We exchanged a knowing glance, acknowledging the challenges and excitement of preparing for a big trip. With our shared understanding, Mindy whisked the children to the backyard, their laughter and playful chatter filling the air.

With each item folded and placed neatly into the suitcase, I felt a sense of accomplishment and readiness. The journey ahead beckoned with possibilities and adventures, and I knew that my family was prepared, largely thanks to Mindy's selflessness.

As the sound of children's laughter floated through the open window, I smiled. The sunshine filtering through the curtains bathed the room in a warm glow, mirroring the happiness that filled our home.

As I sat there, waiting for Alex to return, my mind began to wander and worry. It was unusual for him to block our mind link, especially without warning. We had always been able to communicate effortlessly through our mental connection, so his sudden absence left me feeling slightly unsettled.

I tried to dismiss my concerns, convincing myself he probably had some essential last-minute business to attend to. After all, Alex was a diligent and responsible person, always putting his work and commitments first. However, a small voice whispered the possibility of something being wrong.
