Hiding His Alpha Twins novel Chapter 21

Catarina’s POV

"Mummy, I don't want to leave you."

I felt a surge of emotions as Nadia rushed up to me, tears streaming down her face, clutching onto her Teddy Bear. She looked so small, so innocent. Nathan, my sensitive and perceptive son, shuddered at the sight of the man they called their father. Both of my children huddled closer to me, seeking solace and protection.

As images of Lochlan, their biological father, flashed before my eyes, I desperately tried to push them away. I wiped my face, determined to erase his presence from my mind. The sound of his voice still haunted me, a sound filled with pain and disappointment. He was not worthy of being their father. My babies deserved someone so much better.

Mindy gave me a sympathetic look and tried to coax Nadia to go with her, but she refused to let go of me.

"Is he really our daddy?" Nadia looked up at me. Nathan held his sister’s hand and they both waited for my response. Alex looked sad for them both.

"Yes, Nadia. Biologically, he is your father," I responded, my voice trembling slightly. I hugged them tighter, trying to keep them safe from the complexities and darkness that surrounded their father. How could I explain the depths of his character to their young and impressionable minds? How could I shield them from the pain and disappointment he had brought into our lives?

"He hurt me," I continued, my voice shaky with the weight of my words. "But that doesn't mean we can't be happy without him. We have each other, and we have love."

Nadia and Nathan looked up at me, their innocent eyes searching for reassurance. I summoned all the strength within me and mustered a smile, hoping to convey the resilience that lay within us.

"We are a team," I declared, my voice filled with determination. "No matter what happens, we will always protect and support each other. Love will guide us through the darkness he tried to bring upon us."

Nathan's grip tightened around me, seeking comfort and security in my embrace. Overwhelmed with a mother's love, I kissed the top of his head, a silent promise to always be there for them.

"I may have scars from the pain he caused," I whispered, feeling a flicker of determination ignite within me. "But those scars will not define us. We have the power to create our own happiness, filled with love, laughter, and endless adventures."

As the words left my lips, a sense of empowerment washed over me. Lochlan's actions and presence may have left wounds, but they would not dictate our future. We were free to rewrite our story, to rise above the pain and build a future marked by strength and resilience.

"Cat, he can't hurt you," Alex assured me and I turned to him, grateful for his presence in this difficult moment.

"You're right, Alex," I replied, determination seeping into my voice. "Lochlan may have caused us pain, but I refuse to let him continue to have power over us. We have each other, and together, we are stronger than anything he can throw at us."

Nadia and Nathan looked up at Alex, their young minds seeking reassurance from this trusted figure in our lives. Alex knelt beside them, meeting their gaze with a calm and supportive expression.

"Your Mother is absolutely right," Alex assured them, his voice gentle yet firm. "We are a family, and we will do everything in our power to protect and love each other. Lochlan, biological father or not, does not define who you are or who you will become."

"But when I find out who led him here, I will punish them." Alex swore.

My heart skipped a beat at Alex's words, realizing the weight of the situation we were in. Someone had betrayed us, leading Lochlan to our doorstep. The thought of someone close to us betraying our trust filled me with a mix of anger and suspicion.

"Who would do such a thing?" I asked, my voice trembling with both anger and fear. "Who could have possibly led him to us?"

Alex's eyes hardened, his protective instincts kicking into high gear. "We'll find out, Cat. I promise you; we won't rest until we've uncovered the truth. Whoever did this will face the consequences."

I nodded, feeling a surge of determination coursing through me. We would protect our family, not just from Lochlan, but from anyone who threatened our happiness and safety.

"We need to be vigilant," I said, my voice filled with a newfound determination. "We can't let this betrayal break us. We need to stand strong and protect what's ours."

Alex's grip on my hand tightened, his expression matching mine in intensity. "You're right, Cat. We won't let anyone tear apart what we've fought so hard to build. We'll find the truth, and we'll ensure that justice is served."

He took my hand and together we went back to face our guests.
