Hiding His Alpha Twins novel Chapter 19

Lochlan’s POV

"Beta, I want that bitch Carla, in my office right away." I mind-linked my beta David and within minutes he was shoving her through the door. She fell to the floor like a clumsy imbecile. I glared down at her in disgust.

"You are hiding something from me. Being the good alpha that I am, I will give you one last chance to tell me the truth." I told her. "Unless you want to find out how it feels to lose someone you love so dearly." I smirked as her eyes widened in disbelief. The look of horror on her face told me she was going to cooperate this time around.

"Well?" I demanded.

The room seemed to quiver with tension as my words reverberated through the air, each syllable carrying the weight of a dire warning. Carla, trembling before me, was aware of the stakes. Her mate, Harry, and their baby hung precariously in the balance; their very existence threatened by my desperation.

Desperation fuelled my anger, causing me to slam my fists onto the table with a force that shook the room. Carla gasped, her eyes widening with a mixture of fear and pleading. I couldn't afford to waste any more time. I needed answers, and I needed them now.

"Alright," she quivered, her voice choked with tears. "I will tell you what I know, but please, for the love of all that is holy, don't harm Harry or our baby. Please," she pleaded, her tears streaming down her face in rivulets of anguish. As her words reached my ears, an ache resonated within me. Despite everything, I knew the weight of a mother's love and the desperation to protect her family.

But my rage throbbed beneath the surface, my canines revealed in a guttural growl. My patience was wearing thin, and the consequences grew more severe with each passing moment. Carla's tears tugged at my empathy, but the weight of my own pain gnawed at the edges of my consciousness.

Taking a deep breath, I willed myself to momentarily quell the raging storm within me. The consequences of my fury were too high a price to pay. I needed the truth, and I had no choice but to trust that Carla would provide it.

Her trembling fingers reached out to wipe away the tears from her cheeks. She gathered herself as best as she could, her voice shaky but determined. She knew the urgency of the situation and the swirling tempest of emotions that surrounded it.

With a trembling voice, Carla began to spill the secrets that weighed heavy on her heart.

"I saw her. She was working for Harry’s office, and she moved back to Colorado to be with Alex."

As each piece of information fell into place, my anger began to transform into a focused determination. The fire within me burned brighter, fuelled by the knowledge that I now possessed. I would do whatever it took to protect my own, to safeguard the love that intertwined with my soul.

The room fell silent, save for the echoes of Carla's revelations lingering in the air. I stared at her, the weight of the truth settling upon my shoulders. While her words may have brought forth the answers I sought, the journey ahead was still fraught with uncertainty and danger.

Regaining my composure, I made a promise to myself and to Carla. "I won't harm Harry or your baby," I said firmly, my voice laced with resolve.

"Alpha, it is me." The voice said.

"Yes?" I replied, tapping my fingers on the table.

"Alpha, it would seem that Luna Catarina is within the palace grounds."

The colour drained from my face. I slammed the phone down and processed the words.

King Alpha Alex’s palace! Not even hours’ drive away.

Then it clicked. Perhaps that is why I had not been given an invitation to this huge ball that was happening tonight.

"Well, well. It looks like I will be an extra guest." I raised my eyebrows and got up. Looking around at what I needed to pack. There was no time to waste. I would be seeing my beloved very shortly.
