Shannon didn't hide anything and simply said, "She's Marshmallow's relative. Her name's Fennec Marblemaw."
Scott was utterly baffled. Before he could make sense of her words, a small figure darted out from near his feet.
It landed in Shannon's arms with a graceful leap and snuggled up affectionately. When it noticed someone new, it curiously poked its head to look at the woman standing behind Shannon.
Fennec's eyes lit up with surprise and joy after seeing Marshmallow. "So, you're the famous Marshmallow, huh?"
Marshmallow tilted its head at her as if to process her words. Then, it hopped down from Shannon's arms and walked up to Fennec.
Fennec knelt down, and the human and fox leaned their heads toward each other. Their foreheads touched gently in greeting.
When Eva came running out of the house and caught sight of Marshmallow touching foreheads with Fennec, she immediately pouted. It felt as if her Pretty Marshmallow had been stolen.
She ran up to Shannon and hugged one of her legs tightly. "Shannon, who is she?"
Shannon didn't feel like repeating herself, so Scott chimed in to repeat her words from earlier. "She's Marshmallow's relative. Her name's Fennec Marblemaw!"
He wasn't entirely sure what kind of relative Fennec was since the latter was human, and Marshmallow was a fox.
Eva showed no surprise at his words. Instead, she looked at Fennec and asked, "If you're Pretty Marshmallow's relative, does that mean you're a fox too?"
Her tone was so matter-of-fact that Fennec glanced uncertainly at Shannon. Seeing no objections, she nodded. "That's right, but I'm a half-demon."
"What's a half-demon?"
"Shannon, stop standing there and chat. Come in and take a look at me!"
Holding his lower back, he'd only managed a few steps before stopping to catch his breath. Shannon looked over and raised an eyebrow in surprise at his now larger belly.
By all logic, the sylphdeer's fur from Rhodes should've dissolved over time and gradually eased Alex's pseudocyesis symptoms. But judging from the size of his stomach, it'd enlarged instead.
Shannon glanced at Hank, and the latter helplessly explained, "Dad's belly swelled up a few days ago, but Uncle Adam said you were busy, so we didn't want to bother you."
Shannon had mentioned pseudocyesis symptoms could persist for several months. There was no need to trouble her over it since it wasn't anything urgent.
Eva chimed in cheerfully as if announcing good news, "Daddy's about to give birth!"
