Chapter 30 Reckless Actions, She Sees His True Heart 

Jackson’s misplaced sense of superiority gave Houston the urge to grab a machete and end the nonsense right there. He fixed Jackson with a cold, dangerous stare, his voice low and full of authority. “You’re digging your own grave.” 

As Ryan, Houston knew he only needed to give a single command to strip Jackson, the spoiled trust–fund baby, of his wealth and status, leaving him as a beggar on the streets. 

Sensing the mounting tension, Rose quickly stepped in to ease the situation, “Mr. Jackson, let me be clear. When a girl already has someone in her heart, she is not the right match for you. Don’t waste your time on me. Go find someone who truly loves. you back 

But Jackson, persistent as ever, said. “Rose, before I met you, I thought you were just someone who suited me well. But after meeting you, I realized I’ve fallen deeply in love with you. You mean far more to me than the countless train stations I memorized in childhood or the names of countries on a globe.” 

Rose froze, stunned. 

For an Asperger’s patient, the obsessive memorization of structured patterns–train stops, routes, or numbers–is a deeply ingrained habit. But for Jackson to compare his love for Rose to those unshakable childhood obsessions struck her with both emotion and uncase. 

When someone with Asperger’s becomes fixated, it’s exceedingly difficult to change their focus. 

Rose cast a helpless glance at Houston, silently pleading for assistance. Houston’s expression turned even darker as he commanded. “Rose, get in the car 

Rose gave Jackson a deep bow of apology before slipping into the passenger seat beside Houston. With a press of the gas pedal. Houston sped away, leaving Jackson behind in the dust.. 

Rose looked at Houston, his presence radiating authority, and felt an inexplicable sense of guilt. Perhaps it was because she knew she was a married woman yet found herself tangled in complicated situations with another man. The thought filled her 

with shame. 

Lowering her gaze, she whispered, “Houston, I’m sorry. He’s an Asperger’s patient, and once he fixates on something, it becomes a rigid compulsion. It’s not that he truly loves me…” 

Houston’s brooding expression softened a little. He reached out, holding her hand with his, a hint of childish displeasure in his tone. “Rose. I’m not mad at you. I’m angry at Jackson. He actually had the audacity to belittle me in front of you.” 

He gave her a sidelong glance. “Do you think I’m useless because of what he said?” 

Rose couldn’t hold back her laughter. “Mr. Jefferson, I’m not that naive. After this ambiguous remark, she turned to look out the window. 

But the sparkle in her eyes gave her away, exposing the warmth she felt inside. 

Even though Houston didn’t have vast fortunes or dazzling talents, his care and thoughtfulness were like a beam of light shining into the dark pit Rose had fallen into, pulling her back from despair. 

As Houston sat quietly, mulling over her cryptic words, Rose suddenly said softly, “You’re amazing,” 

The gloom on Houston’s face vanished instantly, replaced by a bright smile. He raised her hand, pressing it against his chiseled face. “Rose, what’s amazing about me?” 

Rose was silent at first. 

Then she turned to look at him, her elegam features filled with rare seriousness. “I thought losing Ethan would break me, like losing half my life. But you’ve helped me reclaim that half,” 

Houston paused, stunned. He knew Rose’s decade–long love for Ethan, as fleeting as it might seem, had left its scars. Yet her words still struck a nerve- 

“Rose, let him go completely, okay? For the rest of your life, you’ll only need me 

Tears welled up in Rose’s eyes. “Okay”
