He Watched Me Shine Without Him novel Chapter 51

I had already weighed my options back then, so there was no reason for regret now. Rose had her strengths, but she also came with plenty of flaws.

Shaking off the tangled emotions, Ethan trudged off to work.

When Rose entered the consultation room, she spotted a woman in a professional suit leaning casually against the hallway wall, her aura sharp and commanding. She was watching Rose with keen interest.

Surprised, Rose met the woman’s gaze. The woman smiled and introduced herself, "Dr. Marshall, I’m your first patient today."

Rose nodded and gestured for her to come in.

The woman took a seat, her piercing gaze never leaving Rose’s face.

"What symptoms are you experiencing?" Rose asked in a routine tone.

"Dr. Marshall, I’ve been feeling extremely anxious lately. The chairman gave me a really tricky task. If I manage to complete it, the company’s little devil—our CEO—definitely won’t let me off the hook. But if I fail, the chairman will be severely disappointed in me. Please help this poor sandwich of a person, Dr. Marshall." She frowned deeply, truly distressed.

Rose had seen many patients, but never one who was so anxious from being stuck between two power figures in a company that it disrupted her sleep.

Those two must be quite the characters.

"I suggest you take things in stride," Rose said calmly. "We’re human, not gods. No one can please everyone. After all, we’re not dollars."

The woman looked at Rose, her smile laced with meaning. "Your husband must be a wealthy and devoted man, Dr. Marshall. Otherwise, how could you maintain such a healthy mindset? Unlike me, who has to bow to my boss just to put food on the table."

Rose replied, "My husband is indeed very loving, but he’s just an ordinary office worker."

"Ordinary?" The woman glanced at the shirt Rose wore underneath her coat, clearly skeptical.

"Well, he must love you deeply then. No way he’d buy you such expensive clothes otherwise."

"Is this shirt expensive?" Rose asked, slightly taken aback.

"You don’t follow fashion brands?"

Rose gave a sheepish smile. "Not interested."

"Then have you studied your husband? Do you know everything about him?"

Rose sensed an undertone in her words, but she didn’t want to talk about her marriage during work hours.

She simply said, "You seem energetic, with good blood circulation. Your anxiety hasn’t reached the point where medication is needed. Just work on your mindset. That’s all. Next patient, please."
