Chapter 20 Linda’s Revenge, A Chaotic Start
Was Ryan supporting Rose purely to stir up trouble for me?
After handing over the treatment plan, Rose told Charlotte calmly, “Follow the plan as written. Start by identifying any food intolerances at the hospital and eliminating them from your diet. Come back in a week for a follow–up”
With that, Rose left the VIP ward. Checking the time, she saw that her shift hadn’t started yet and decided to visit her mother’s room.
Thanks to Dr. Jason’s care. Linda’s heart condition had stabilized, and she had been moved to a general ward.
However, her mood was far from settled. The thought of her daughter’s broken engagement weighed heavily on her. As soon as Rose entered, Linda’s face darkened. “That Vivian treated you so terribly, and yet you act like it’s no big deal? I can’t stand the thought of you doing all the work while she takes all the credit–it makes me furious!”
Rose replied calmly, “Mom, all Vivian took was an irresponsible man. She can have him if she wants. I don’t care.
Linda wasn’t satisfied. You might be able to brush it off, but I can’t! Did you even try to get back all the money you spent on Ethan over the years?”
Rose answered honestly, I asked him, and he said he’d pay me back after his next paycheck.”
Linda’s eyes flashed with anger. “He used your money to support another woman! You can’t let him get away with this. You need to demand what’s rightfully yours.”
Rose sighed. I’ve tried everything I could.”
Linda’s resolve hardened. “If he’s going to be shameless, I’ll handle this my way.”
Rose thought little of it, assuming her mother was just venting. She didn’t expect what Linda would do next
That afternoon, while Rose was at work, Linda slipped out of her ward and headed to the outpatient department. After asking. around, she tracked down Ethan’s office in the psychology department.
When Ethan saw Linda, he assumed she was there to reconcile. With a smug smile, he greeted her warmly. “Madam Samantha, what a pleasant surprise. What brings you here?”
Linda’s face was cold. She got straight to the point. “Ethan, when are you planning to repay the money you owe my daughter?” Her voice was loud, immediately catching the attention of the doctors and patients in the room.
Ethan’s face flushed with embarrassment. “Madam Samantha, this isn’t the right place to discuss such things. Let’s go somewhere private to talk.”
But Linda had no intention of leaving. This wasn’t just about getting Rose’s money back–it was about humiliating Ethan.
She raised her voice and said firmly, “Ethan, don’t think you can get rid of me that easily. I won’t leave until you give back what you owe my daughter. Everyone deserves to know who you truly are–a man who lived off his girlfriend for ten years, left her for her best friend, and still refuses to pay back the 30 thousand dollars you owe. If you want to be shameless, I’ll make sure everyone knows about it!”
The crowd began to grow, and the whispers started. Despite Ethan’s short time at the hospital, his polished demeanor had made him popular with colleagues and patients alike. To save his reputation, Ethan tried to turn the tables.
“Madam Samantha,” he said with a tight smile, please don’t spread false accusations. If I owe your daughter money, where’s the evidence?”
Linda, unprepared, faltered for a moment.
The crowd turned skeptical. “She’s probably making it up. Dr. Ethan is so handsome and successful–she’s probably just trying to tie him to her daughter. People will go to any lengths these days.”
Ethan’s smug expression grew even more pronounced.
Furious, Linda retorted. “Who would want their daughter to marry an ungrateful man like you? My daughter would marry. anyone before settling for someone as morally corrupt as him.”
Worried that the situation would spiral further and expose even more of his secrets, Ethan quickly called Rose. Annoyed, he said. “Get your mother out of here. She’s causing a scene and embarrassing both herself and you!”
