Chapter 17 Scumbag’s Words, Houston’s Fury 

Her vision was shrouded in darkness, but her hearing sharpened in compensation. She could distinctly hear the voices. outside the car. 

“Ethan, tell me, whose kissing skills are better, mine or Rose’s?” 

“Isn’t it obvious? Of course, it’s you. Rose is clueless about that stuff. Every kiss we shared was barely a touch, and she wouldn’t even allow me to kiss her properly. If she weren’t so dull, I wouldn’t have broken up with her.” 

“So, how was it in bed? Did she just lie there like a statue?” 

Rose’s cheeks burned with shame, her fists clutching Houston’s shirt tightly. Feeling her distress, Houston hit the gas, the car speeding off with a thunderous roar. 

The sudden movement startled Ethan and Vivian, making them stumble back in shock. Vivian snapped, “Are you insane? Don’t you know I’m pregnant? What if something happened to my baby? What if I miscarried? Could you afford to pay for in?” 

Houston slammed on the brakes, bringing the car to a sudden stop. 

Vivian froze, her earlier bravado gone in an instant. 

Rose grabbed Houston’s armi, silently asking him to let it go. 

Houston said, “Let me deal with him for you.” 

Rose replied, “He’s not worth it.” 

She stepped out of the car. 

Ethan and Vivian’s faces turned pale the moment they saw her. Rose’s gaze was cold and unwavering, piercing Ethan and leaving him squirming with discomfort. 

“Ethan, you’re disgusting. Rose said flatly. 

The words hit like a slap, branding him as a shameless lowlife. 

Ethan’s face burned with embarrassment. 

As Rose walked away, she turned back to wave at Houston, her icy expression softening into a gentle smile. 

Ethan and Vivian craned their necks, trying to get a better look at the driver. All they could make out was the tall silhouette of

As Houston drove off, Vivian suddenly ran after Rose, her tone dripping with mockery. “Rose, who was that man who dropped you off?” 

The casual familiarity in her tone made it seem as though she hadn’t stolen Rose’s boyfriend or caused her mother’s health 

Rose, amazed at Vivian’s audacity, chose not to respond and kept walking. 

Vivian pouted in frustration, then shouted after her, “Rose, we grew up together as best friends! Are you really going to ignore me forever? Why are you being so petty?” 

Rose stopped, turned, and walked back to her. “This isn’t about pettiness. I just don’t want to associate with someone whose morals are so warped. From now on, pretend you don’t know me. I don’t know you” 

Vivian protested, “Rose, fine, I’ll introduce you to some of my friends to make up for taking Ethan. Can’t we just move on?” 

Rose sighed. 

“Do you not understand? I’m not upset you took Ethan–I’m grateful. You helped me realize what a scumbag he is. I just don’t want to be around you because your character is rotten. Birds of a feather Block together, and I want nothing to do with your circle of friends” 

Without another word, she turned and walked away.
