Girl Get Rid Of That Jerk (Williams and Shawn) novel Chapter 180

The woman teased, "Chris, how can you talk about a girl like that?" Yara was the picture of flirtation, her eyes sparkling with mischief and allure.

Chris chuckled, gently lifting Yara's chin before leaning in for a kiss. His desire was intense; even though he'd just felt satisfied, Yara's charm was enough to spark that fire again. The two of them got lost in a wild, passionate embrace, the air around them thickening with their shared fervor.

...

After wrapping up her call with Chris, Lillian finally felt a weight lift off her shoulders. It seemed she still had some leverage with Chris. Since he'd reassured her that Sue's troubles wouldn't spill over onto her, he must’ve been sure that the Fisher family wouldn't be able to trace anything back to her. She could finally look forward to a good night's sleep.

...

In the Fisher family study, Joshua laid out the details of Chris' actions to Ray and Ben. Ben wore a grim expression. On the desk was a laptop, its screen showing Ray's stern, stone-cold face on a video call.

Ray's voice carried authority as he spoke to Ben, "Ben, I told you we shouldn't have kept that illegitimate child around. You shouldn't have gone soft on this. Joshua's the only heir we need for the Fisher family."

Ben was riddled with guilt and regret, his face etched with concern. "Dad, I’m sorry. I shouldn't have shown any leniency. I was only thinking of the family blood in his veins..."

Ray's face was flushed with anger as he rebuked, "That moment of pity has brought us nothing but trouble! Just look at the chaos he's caused—three lives have been lost!"

Joshua stood quietly, absorbing everything without a word. Ben listened to Ray’s scolding, not daring to counter, "You're right." He kept his head bowed, taking the reprimand silently.

Ray was thoroughly exasperated, venting his anger through the video call. Due to his high-ranking position in the capital, he was unable to return without official clearance. Once his anger subsided, he spoke more calmly, "Let Joshua take the call."

Ray nodded slightly. "You've always been more reliable than your father."

He cast a disapproving glance at Ben, who stood with his head low. Ben didn't dare speak up.

After a pause, Ray addressed Joshua, "Joshua, you're not getting any younger. It's time you take the reins of the Fisher family. I know your power has been limited, making it hard to act or investigate. With recent events, putting the family's authority and assets in your hands will help you deal with Chris. I've heard he's been making waves abroad, and his influence isn't something to dismiss lightly, so keep your guard up."

Joshua replied coolly, "Yes, Grandfather. You can count on me to manage it."

Ray nodded approvingly. "I've always trusted your judgment, except for that impulsive moment when you took a hit for Allison."
