Fleeing the Nightmarish Father novel Chapter 74

NOW

SAAFIA’S POV:-

Wow… I had no words to respond.

After knowing that he knew me for longer than I perceived, my mind went blank. Eyes popped with countless perceptions and bewildered emotions stacking inside me.

“The image of a cruel person you created… back then… and the rumors I had heard about you… I... I find it hard to believe.” I spoke vaguely, taking too many pauses because back then I had only seen him as- ‘My boyfriend’s heartless Boss.’

“Are you kidding me?” I asked again, narrowing my eyes in suspicion.

He didn’t prefer my response in the slightest and frowned, holding his side to stand assertively before me.

“Do I look like I am joking?”

His serious voice came as we had a staring competition for the next few minutes while I was in a daze on how to react.

“All this time… you… Why didn’t you approach me before?” I asked in bafflement, tilting my head in confusion.

My steps retreated, I almost chuckled to hear all this because to me it sounded so surreal that I found it hard to digest.

I was still in a state of contemplation.

“So what? Here I am now.”

Smirking, he grabbed my wrist to ensure I won’t leave his proximity, staring down at me with his other hand placed on my neck.

My body heated at the charming contact, smiling feebly, I looked up and those eyes I found the reason to hold his hand to never leave it.

“Now I understand what you meant by I was not making it obvious before but looked at me always.” I chuckled huskily, shaking my head.

He was there for me all this time, those eyes always staring intensely at me.

“I am good with these eyes. They are skilled in observing you.” He flirted, winking at me.

“Oh you,”

Hiding my face in my hand bashfully, I took a seat, giggling to perceive how I must have stared at me as my boyfriend’s Boss.

“And now you are all mine, there is no way I would let you go. That Jared lost you, I won’t make the mistake he did.”

He chuckled, sitting on the armrest and moving his hand across my shoulder to keep my body attached to his heartwarming one.

How could I fail to capture the shine in those eyes before?

“My heart is already scattered and only you can join it.” He murmured, taking my hand in his so he could place it over his heart.

“Dariel, you have given me all the happiness.” I confessed, pressing my hand more.

My heart skipped a beat at his pounding beat, compelling me further into devotion. Taking his other hand, I kissed them to drown in him completely.

“I will never doubt you, Saafia. Never.” He hummed, shifting down to pull me into a protective side hug, spreading a grin across my lips.

“Promise me you will remain like this and not let anyone separate us.” I whispered innocently, clutching his shirt, not wanting to leave it.

He smirked, pecking my cheeks, “I won’t.”

Exhaling in relaxation that I had nothing to be vexed about in his presence, we remained like this. Nothing could separate us nor would we allow it.

What more could I possibly ask when I had attained him? He had become my blessing after all.

And with our hearts overflowing with devotion as I had faith that one day he would realize that he loved me too, we continued our lives.

“Take care.” I grinned, kissing his cheeks when he got ready to leave for work.

“You too.” He also smiled back, giving me a side hug before leaving for work.

Ah, how beautiful my life had become after he had considered me his everything. His love would be the end of me one day-

When I was lost in admiration for my husband, my phone rang and the person I last wanted to be involved in my life called.

Sam.

Growling, I didn’t attend his call for the next few times until I grew exasperated by his call and picked it up rudely to hear what more he wanted to speak after trying to demolish my happy married life.

“I know who was that bastard who hit your father and ran away.” He enunciated, making it clear and my heartbeats dropped in horror.

A tear pricked in the corner, I didn’t want to know but I couldn’t resist the urge either. I took a pause to register my emotion as a tear rolled down my cheek.

Those hard times flashed before my eyes and drinking my sorrow, I demanded to know sternly.

“Who was it?”

“Dariel.”

“Okay, I had enough of you pranks! This has to be a lie, there is no way I would believe in those words.” I growled. My Dariel would never do this and even if he did, he would let me know.

“Your loss.”

"How dare you, you bastard."

Scowling, my anger reached a boiling point, wanting to do something to this asshole before he could use my father’s death as an excuse. It must be one of his petty attempts to lure me, I won't allow him to manipulate me.

“If you think I would believe in your ridiculous talks then you are wrong, dammit!”

“You might want to recognize that car’s number plate. I have sent you details. I believe it had the same white color, right? You might want to check.”

With this he cut the call after throwing me into a swirl of turmoil. Falling on the seat, my heartbeats dropped in apprehension. My breaths are restricted around my throat.

I didn’t want to know something I couldn’t bear.

Swallowing hard, I checked the pictures he sent and it was the same car which hit my Father and it… belonged to Dariel?

No way. It had to be fake.

“No…” Shaking my head in dejection, the phone fell from my hands in grief, I prayed I could forget what I just saw.

No, no, no, this couldn’t be.

I refused to believe it!
