DARIEL’S POV:-
After talking to Jared, we were walking together, greeting a few guests. Anyone could tell that nothing else exists for us but each other.
Of course, how could I look elsewhere when she was beside me? My eyes won’t permit such an absurd action.
“See. He was not that bad. He felt bad for cheating and wanted me to move on.” She smiled, leaning her head on my arm.
“That’s not it. You are too kind, you forgave him, that is why he prayed for you.” I corrected her words and I bet if that wasn’t the case, he wouldn't have done it.
He must be regretting cheating on her. Too bad she became all mine and now shall remain mine.
She was about to say something but Sam came into view and my rage attacked me furiously. The way he destroyed my mood and Jacey’s engagement came.
“That ass-”
My jaw clenched, I was about to go and threaten him but Saafia pulled my arm, not letting me go.
“Don’t go, Dariel.” She whispered innocently, tightening her grip over me, shaking her head in denial.
Yeah, I won’t leave her alone again.
“Okay…”
Taking a deep breath, I placed my hand around her shoulder, keeping her body locked with mine so everyone would know that he shield was with her and they dare not look at MY wife.
“Don’t worry, I am here. You are protected with me.” I whispered, keeping her to my chest, not removing my hand from her shoulder.
“Hmm. I know.” She smiled, relaxed in my arms.
The sensation of her being pressed against my hard chest, how it made my heart hammer against my ribcage. The impulses I held began to burst.
God, the way she was looking at me. Now I understood what she must have felt when I stared at her too.
“Saafia…”
“Hmm?”
“Do you love me?” I asked, glancing down at her, not caring if people were looking at us and whispering.
They were flabbergasted but there was no denial towards my attraction for my wife. Was I not allowed to hold her?
“Do you doubt it?” She giggled, stopping and lifting her compelling eyes to lock them with mine so nothing else could exist between us.
“Would you still love me even if I don’t?” I arched an eyebrow, having no idea what was happening to me.
“You are my husband, Dariel, I don’t need your permission to feel love or affection for you.” She smiled beautifully, poking my cheek adorably.
“And I know I probably won’t return- heck, I don’t know how it feels in the first place but, Saafia, whatever I do for you, I do it from the bottom of my heart.” I continued, growing desperate as I held her arms, making her turn to me.
There were countless statements I urged to liberate but it required too much. How could I share my perception, my words?
How could I tell her that her smiles had become my home?
“I know and that is enough for me,” She whispered.
Placing her hand over mine, giving it an assuring squeeze, providing me with uttermost tranquility.
“That is why,”
Inhaling sharply, I pulled back from her. My steps retreated, taking her hand in mine affectionately.
“Dariel…?”
I pulled her back as we stood at the steps, gaining attention. Everyone turned to us and my eyes were affixed on her. Grateful for the sensation I had begun to feel.
I wanted to return that so bending on one knee, I kept a box secured with the host of the party. Yeah, I arranged that already.
She was baffled as I offered her the box before everyone, staring intensely at my aesthetic woman, curling my lips in a pure smile.
“Happy six months anniversary, Missus Cannedy.”
I spoke from the bottom of my heart. She gasped, taking a step back. Knitting my brows, I was bewildered. Putting her hands over her chest, she broke into a chuckle.
“It has been six months already?!”
My heart skipped a beat, indulging in the closeness. My heart boasted.
“Glad to know.”
“Do you know? I originally planned to make you wear the dress I bought and then put on the jewelry here but it never came so I had to change the plan.” I told her in disappointment.
“It’s okay. I love it anyways. It looks expensive though.”
There was no way I could tell that it cost a million with pure gems and white gold, her dress was 5 millions too if that damn one had arrived. She was so vexed over that 10,000 set.
“Ah, don’t worry about it. I have got too much to spend anyways. You should too.” I smiled, resting my hand over her shoulder again to keep her small form encased with me, getting down, ignoring everyone.
“Still, tell me. I am curious-” She insisted.
“Ah, yes, we are coming.”
Not noticing her call, we went to the host who planned it with me.
“My, my, we couldn’t believe it was you, Mr. Cannedy. You sure have fallen in love deeply.” He laughed.
“Who knows?” I smirked, shrugging my shoulders.
“He had become completely dreamy. Don’t mind him please.” Saafia giggled.
“Did you not like it?”
“I ‘love’ everything about you.” She winked.
“I know. That is why you fell in love with me even after I was not the best or the most charming. In fact, all we did was to argue, heck, I distrusted you yet looked at you.” I continued, not realizing my words and pinching her cheek to loving a man like me in the first place.
I felt like I was not worthy of it at certain points. How could someone love me this deeply?
“Every human has good and bad qualities, Dariel. Yes, you did all that but you put my father in a good hospital, you consoled me, you held my feet, you shared your feelings with me. Count them too.” She continued, recalling things I never bothered to remember or heeded.
“We are different. I only see bad things and you only see good ones.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
