Fleeing the Nightmarish Father novel Chapter 47

DARIEL’S POV:-

Well, I lied.

No, not lied entirely but the part that she was taking the spotlight was right.

She was taking the spotlight of ‘my’ gaze.

I was unable to look elsewhere, I wanted to stare at her, grab her waist again, push her against the wall and kiss-

What the hell am I thinking!?

“Huff. Stop it.”

Holding my forehead, I shook my head to release those unwanted thoughts and began to look for Jacey. I wanted that picture she took so I could make it my wallpaper.

“Jacey, listen, send me the picture you took. Now.” I said quickly.

“Okay, I will. But, where is Sam, Dariel? He was right here and now vanished. Can you find him please?” She pouted, losing her patience when he was nowhere to be found.

“Okay. I will take a look. Must be doing a touch up or something. Don’t forget to send me the picture.” I nodded, motioning to her to calm down.

“Hmm.”

“Sarah, listen,” I called her, going to her first to get an idea on how good we both would look in the matching outfits.

“Where is Saafia?” I asked when she hadn’t come down yet, keeping the task of finding Sam aside.

Jacey was in a hurry and I wanted Saafia to be present.

“She went to change, she will be here soon,” She shrugged nonchalantly.

“How long does it take her to get ready?”

“Her makeup was already soft, she had to set it according to the dress. Ten minutes, I’d say.” She trailed off, giving a rough estimate as I was eager to see her.

A picture of us in the same clothes would look more aesthetic and beautiful- what the hell was wrong with me?

Good thing I made her change or else those thoughts would mislead too much.

“Cool-”

I was about to go back but Jacey came whining, pilling my arm to drag me away.

“Dariel, come on,”

“Okay, okay,” I sighed, putting my hand defensively in the air to stop my sister.

“What happened?” Sarah chuckled at her childishness.

“Sam has vanished.” I sighed, shaking my head, not in the mood to look for him but I had to.

Sarah smiled, pointing at the corridor towards the terrace and our room, “Oh, I saw him on the first floor. He went that way,”

“Thanks,”

I went to the first floor from the main hall, searching for Sam. Humming to myself, I saw Jacey sent me the picture. I smirked, zooming in.

And before I could stare intensely at it, Jacey texted me.

‘I bet you must be staring at the picture. Stop and find Sam. We need to exchange rings.’

Sighing at her next, I rolled my eyes and called Sam. I turned to our room to call Saafia first before finding Sam. I didn’t want her to be enraged that she missed the moment.

I could hear a sound faintly… coming from my room?

Not thinking deeply, I followed the sound and heard the most unexpected voice.

“Dariel!!”

“I warned you to stay away from her, didn't I?!”

How dare he hold her in a way only I could? How dare he hurt my Saafia!?

Oh, he was going to suffer brutally for what he had done.

“D-Dariel, she- she called me. I didn’t do anything, she advanced-”

Before he could make a useless excuse, I yelled, pushing him to the ground and kicking him again outrageously.

“SHUT UP!”

Gasping in horror, Saafia came and held my arm, sobbing, shaking her head in denial to stop me.

“Dariel-”

“No, Saafia. Do you think I am blind? How dare he hurt you?!” I scowled, kicking him again, losing my breaths. Running my hair through my hair, making them messy.

“Dammit!”

Loosening the tie roughly, I opened a few buttons to breathe properly. Curling my hands in a fist, I turned to Saafia who was frightened of me.

“D-Dariel…” She whimpered, holding her dress, clutching the collar of my shirt with her shaky hands.

I whispered desperately, “Saafia-”

I opened my mouth to comfort her and embrace her to make her feel protected but having the worst timing, Jacey came with Sam’s parents and a few other people.

Fuck.

What should I do now to avoid this situation?

I won’t let them degrade her.
