“I was right to not trust you!”
A soft voice of fear escaped my lips when he shouted at me. My lips closed instantly, narrowing my eyes in hopelessness when he didn’t hold faith.
“Are you satisfied after meeting your lover huh? I was right after all. You are still in love with him,”
Growling, he held my jaw, hovering over me, glaring dead into my eyes. I whimpered, shaking my head in denial as my fright reached its peak.
“What? No!”
“Yes, you are!”
Whimpering, I didn’t expect he would react this way. Now all the things Jared told me made sense. I could imagine how he would be with his ex wife too.
“Listen, I just went to know about you-”
Whisering, I was about to justify but he pushed me back, holding his side, constant growls emitting from him which were drying my throat.
“What is he to me that you went to him to ask about me? What does him or his damn wife know about me? Or did you want to know how Veronica left me SO YOU LEAVE ME LIKE THAT TOO?!”
When he lost his composure and yelled outrageously at me. All my patience and bravery shattered. I could feel my heart almost leaping out of my chest.
Breathless, I clutched the sheets, shutting my eyes as I yelled back from disappointment.
“Please! Stop it! You are scaring me! It’s nothing like this! Stop assuming! I didn’t do anything wrong!!”
Sobbing, I forced my blurry eyes to open and look at him, crying from agony and fear. Shaking violently at his crushing presence, standing too close to me.
“I know what I am assuming. I shouldn’t have let you go out in the first place. Faking to leave for your sister and then going to meet him?” He scowled, holding my chin, forcing me to look into his senseless eyes.
But it induced a realization. I paused and gulped hard, lifting my heavy orbs and meeting him.
“You… You were keeping an eye on me, weren’t you?” I whispered from fright.
All this time, he knew where I went, what I did. He kept my activities under surveillance. Each servant here was his messenger.
“So what? I was right to do it. Look, the moment you got the chance, you went to him.” He scoffed, leaving me.
“I understand now why you don’t hate him and won’t do it… because you want him.” He smirked heartlessly in the end.
With tears shining on my cheek, I used my remaining strength and got up from the bed. Standing before him, I only stared at him in pure bewilderment.
“You… What type of a man are you?” I whispered, narrowing my eyes.
Sniffling, I wiped my tears to clear my vision, replacing my fear with disgust and disbelief. I had never met someone like him in my entire life.
He smirked ruthlessly and was about to mock me but losing my patience, I pushed him by his shoulder.
“What!?” We both yelled at the same time, not removing the glare from each other.
And thankfully, breaking our glaring by her announcement.
“Madam Jacey has arrived.”
I scoffed, folding my arms at my chest and turned my head away furiously.
“Oh, look, your sister is here. Is she self-centered and unlikeable like you too?” I mocked him.
“Tsk. I will deal with you later.” He scoffed, moving back not removing his venomous eyes from me.
I put my hands in the air, not having enough strength to argue with him anymore.
“And I have nothing to talk to you about. I have told you already, I went to Jared only to know about you. I have no other justification to give you. Believe whatever you want.” I declared coldly, moving away from him.
He stared at me for the next few seconds and sighed, shaking his head and walked away to meet his sister as I stood in the room with tears twinkling in the corner.
When he left, I stared at my miserable reflection in the air…
Realizing that Veronica’s decision to leave a man like him might be right after all…
