Fleeing the Nightmarish Father novel Chapter 25

For the following week, I didn’t see him, he went to work quickly and returned late. I guess he got angry with me and is now being away by himself.

Not that I was complaining.

But, surprisingly he texted me at least that he’d be late and I won’t stay up for him, which I didn’t.

After a week, his majesty finally decided to show up early, holding a cupcake in his hands.

“Hey,”

“What?”

Perplexed, I didn’t want to be delusional and consider that a peace offering because according to him- He didn’t do anything wrong.

“Oh, you are here. I thought you were going to avoid me.” He smirked, taunting me while I was tying my hairs in a side braid.

Frowning, I turned to him, folding my arms, “Are you still stuck on last week’s talk after avoiding ‘me’?”

“I was not avoiding you. I was busy. Congratulate me.” Shrugging his shoulders, he took a bite of the cupcake and came closer.

“For what?”

“I got that deal. My products will be shipped to the UK and France now. Here, eat it.” He smirked proudly, offering me a bite of the cupcake.

I glanced at the cupcake and then back at him, narrowing my eyes but then again, there was no point being stuck at one point.

Shaking my head, I took a bite, touching his hand slightly which made my heart skip a beat but I acted normal.

“Congratulations. Oh, the cupcake is amazing. I love them.” I smiled faintly, taking it from his hands and eating it myself.

“I know. I got a whole box.” He hummed, resting his hands in his pockets, not minding as well.

“How do you know?”

“Excuse me? Your ex was my employee and you have called him many times to bring cupcakes if you remember.” Enunciating, he brought his one hand close and wiped the frosting on the corner of my lips.

I blushed, not believing that he bothered to remember my likes in the first place. I didn’t want to feel anything by actions, he never meant them.

“Oh. I didn’t know you were paying attention.” I whispered, taking a step away.

“Since when you did?” He muttered.

“What?”

“Nothing.” He frowned.

I frowned back, “You can’t stay happy for one second, can you?”

“Get ready, let’s have dinner outside. I feel generous today. Be grateful.” He sighed but then smirked in the end, not forgetting to praise himself for being ‘kind’ enough to take me out.

“Hmph.” I faked a scoff but soon laughed a little, waving my hand at him as I took out my blue dress, matching his blue suit jacket.

“I am waiting downstairs. Be quick.”

We were having dinner in a lavish, five-star hotel accompanied with a soothing environment. I was solely focused on the food. I endeavored to pretend that I didn’t notice his intense stare on me.

‘Why do you stare at me like this when it was never anything?’ I thought, taking a bite.

“Saafia.”

My lips closed instantly at his assertive look. Drying my throat when those keen eyes traveled all the way to my body and stopped right over my shaky lips and timid glances.

Giving me a storm, he ended his stare and exhaled. Giving me a reply I was unable to understand.

“People like you die easily in this world and by all means I cannot let you die.”

“What?” My mouth gaped, leaning forward but his mood to extend conversation ended.

“Nothing. Eat. Your food is getting cold.”

“Just like you?” I cracked a joke, earning a scoff from him before continuing to eat.

Not thinking deeply about it as well, I sparked another topic. We rarely talk with each other peacefully anyways.

“Hey, are we going to have a honeymoon?”

“No.” He frowned.

“Why? You’re so rich, can’t you take your wife to an exotic place?” I whined, pointing my fork at him.

“Why don’t you go alone?” He teased me.

“Okay but think what will people say?” I smirked, reminding him that he had to maintain the image he had created before this world now.

“Then better, let’s not go at all.”

I chuckled at his booming sound of sigh as we continued to have dinner, having a relaxing evening after tiresome events.
