I started avoiding him after what happened at the hospital. I felt stupid to feel better by his words.
“I should have known he was insincere to everyone.” I muttered, wearing my hoops. A grimace lingering on my face.
I got ready for the event he organized to show the world our so-called happiness. We wore matching maroon outfits too.
“Are you ready?”
Irritated like always, he entered and his eyes fell on my maroon mermaid dress, observing me from top to bottom. He was wearing a three buttoned suit jacket, spelling opulence. Hairs combed perfectly, holding an assertive frontage.
Looking handsome as always but his appearance was deceptive.
“Why did you dress up like a doll? Is it for our guests? To attract others? Because I don’t see you putting in any effort for me at all.”
Ignoring his stare this time, I folded my arms at my chest with a frown. Resting his hands in his pockets dominantly, he walked closer, standing before me to intimidate me.
“And then you say you are not waiting for a prince.”
My frown deepened at his comment yet I expected this from him.
“What?”
He smirked, waiting for a retort. When I didn’t bother to reply to him. He arched an eyebrow, trying to piss me off.
“I know whatever I will speak will result in disappointment. I don’t want to ruin my mood by talking to you.” I sighed deeply, pinching the bridge of my nose in disappointment.
But soon wrath took over me as I glared at him, taking out the anger I kept inside me for what he did and pointed my finger at him in contempt.
“And yes, I dressed to impress everyone- how my husband ‘wanted’. Impressing everyone but himself. An empty man with the urge to create a fake life!”
When my voice was raised out of dismay, he came too close to stop me from creating a drama.
“Watch your mouth-”
“Don’t touch me. I am going downstairs.”
Hissing, I put my hand in the air to stop him and gathered my things to leave but he came before me.
“You are not going to leave without me.” He ordered.
“Of course, ‘you’ want to show people your happiness. You only care about yourself, after all.” I muttered, turning my head to the side. His very presence was irking me at this point.
“If you are done with your mocks then let’s go… and don’t call me Mister too.” He sighed, holding the doorknob.
I grit my teeth, staring at him in disbelief that nothing mattered to him. He didn’t even bother to apologize for how he treated me in the lift.
“Don’t worry, I won’t call you at all. You want to act, I will, you want to impress people, I will. Everyone and everything is in your hold after all. Who am I to say anything?” I muttered, not in the mood to fake happiness either.
“Oh? I am glad you have realized this now. Thank you for making things easier. Let’s go now.” He smirked dryly, mocking me.
I didn’t bother to reply as he held my hand in his rough hands. Turning my head to the side, a puff lingered on my face.
The sensation of my hand in his felt horrible.
I didn’t want to hold his hand, they didn’t feel protective at all, it didn’t feel like they would last long.
How cold…
As I was lost in my thoughts, he pulled my hand, shifting my attention to Jared and Veronica that made me feel nothing. I was only bothered by his presence.
“Did you see? Over there? Look, there is the man who promised to be your day and night and now with another woman.”
Before I could walk away, his hand snaked around my shoulder, hitching my breaths in dread when he brought me closer.
“Come on, don’t be shy, love- Oh? Hello, Mister Julius. Darling, he is my business partner. And she is my beautiful wife, Saafia Blooms.”
I was frozen for a moment. I never thought I would hear a sound as charming and heartwarming as this from his mouth.
What. An. Unbelievable. Actor.
“Nice to meet you. You guys look great together.” His partner greeted, shaking hands with him as I stood still, blinking to perceive what I just heard.
“I know. We are made for each other after all.”
Before I could overcome this, he chuckled sweetly, bringing me to his chest to display his ‘endless affection’ for his wife.
I remained stoic for a while until his partner left and then turned to him with stagger. I stared at his aesthetic form from top to bottom.
I swear, if he had been this sweet with me, I would have fallen for him. But thankfully, I knew this was all fake.
“What?”
He twitched his eyebrows playfully, indulging in my astonishment. Walking down, greeting everyone with tenderness and not only me.
It surprised the guests too!
“Hey, Everyone knows you are selfish and rude. I don't understand. What are you trying to prove or show by this smile and affection?” I whispered, pulling his hand to stop him.
That was confusing me because not only me, everyone here was just as dumbfounded to find the heartless one acting softly.
“You will know very soon now.” He smirked, alarming me about his intentions.
