Dariel and I returned home finally. After weeks of waiting for this moment, I was home with my beloved, right beside him. Looking up at him in endearment, I was sitting on the bed.
He was standing before me. I was holding his large in mine, gripping it firmly to encase it in my palm for eternity to never lose that warmth again.
“You are not angry with me anymore, right?” I asked innocently, looking up at him worriedly.
I couldn’t bear his negligence or rage further, it blanked my mind to the point I failed to process my thinking.
He had turned me blind in love.
“Whatever happened was not your fault. I was honestly stressed with everything happening. I didn’t want you to be disturbed because of me too,” He sighed, giving my hand an assuring squeeze before sitting next to me.
I asked softly, “Is that why you sent me away?”
He must have needed time and space after what he saw to register his situation before reacting.
“Yeah, I have been dealing with all this. My head is throbbing so badly too,” He sighed, agreeing that he wouldn’t want to take an emotionally wrong step.
“Did you not trust me?” I whispered sadly.
Facing his palm I began to trace my fingers in his palm, writing my name there so it could be etched there.
I wanted our fates to collide and never separate again.
He noticed that yearning gleaming in my eyes and gripped my hands firmly to reassure me that he won’t create distances again.
“I did that is why I forced the truth out from Helder. I trusted you, it’s just…”
He paused, expressions twisted into perturbation. Releasing my hand, he exhaled from visible frustration.
“Seeing you like this… broke my heart. I had blind faith in you, I love you so much and when I saw you, I just lost my mind,” He confessed, pinching my chest.
I would have felt or reacted the same way if I had seen him with another woman in such an undesirable way.
Frowning, I wrapped my hands around his arms and rested my head on his shoulder to keep him closer but I couldn’t apprehend.
“What does he want to prove by doing all this?” I sighed in disappointment.
I seriously failed to grasp what he would get by all this.
“He just wants to devastate me,” Dariel sighed.
Curling his hand in a fist to perceive how much worse he could possibly get for my destruction.
“Would that give him the love deprived from him?” I muttered, making a sour face.
“I don’t know but the path he is leading will only destroy him,”
“Hmm… Dariel, what would you have done if he had approached you openly, instead of seeking vengeance and all this?” I asked with curiosity.
He sighed tentatively while pondering, it was also something he never fathomed to occur so thinking about it was difficult.
“Hmm… Let’s see. I’d be shocked, won’t believe in him. I might have treated him badly too if he had divulged before our marriage.”
He stopped, taking my hand to intertwine our fingers perfectly, inclining our faces together with immense adoration while curling his lips in a charming smile.
“But after our marriage, I would have accepted him with no heavy feelings like I forgive our past grudges.”
And with his enunciation, he let go of me and fell back on the bed with a groan, stretching his arms out to press himself harder into the mattress and continued.
“But, he created new reasons to resent each other or else, following your trails I decided to place everything behind but people like him doesn’t deserve second chances,”
“Then what if he seeks forgiveness after realizing he was wrong and shouldn’t have done it? What would you do?” I asked expectantly though I doubt he would give Helder a second chance after all those things he had done.
“I know you would forgive him but since we both are different, I can’t. I had done it before but not again. He tortured my sister, humiliated my wife, tried to send me to jail, made Sam even harass you at the engagement, and tried to induce doubts in me.”
Frowning, Dariel stated the list of horrible things he had done.
“I will not forgive him and that’s my final decision, you cannot change me on it.” He declared strictly as each thing he remembered, it made his jaw clench.
I smirked, leaning back, “Really?”
“Maybe after ten years and three kids but not now!” He argued, rolling his eyes to remain stubborn, evoking a giggle from me.
“I did what you wanted- to forgive and look where it got me. Now we will do what I say- we won’t.” He announced, being stubborn this time.
“I am The Dariel Cannedy, a rich, handsome and wise man like me is well aware of his actions and decision,” He enunciated, regaining his prideful composure.
Sighing, I waved my hand, “Okay, okay, I respect your decision. I understand how you must be feeling.”
Smiling, I also laid down on his muscular arm while gripping onto his shirt, looking up at my man in admiration.
We exchanged nervous glances at her pessimistic perception and gave her a side hug.
“Everything will be alright, Jacey,” Dariel whispered, kissing the top of her head to ease her.
“I hope so,”
“Let’s go,”
We left for our flight to meet his Uncle, on the way, I could see how perturbed Dariel was. He was afraid to know something he won’t be able to endure.
Yet it was necessary to be aware of the gap, to know the reason why they treated him like this in the first place.
“It’s going to be okay,” I whispered, keeping my arms locked around his.
He smiled, not leaving me, “Hmm,”
With a determination to find an end to this tribulation, we came to meet his Uncle.
There was a man who looked similar to his Father but he was old with gray hair and a frown plastered on his lips.
Dariel’s features were utterly dire with a hint of anger, “Uncle,”
We were in his place, he was smirking darkly and leaned back, “So you finally came. I had been waiting for you for years now,”
“Why… didn’t you tell me before?” Dariel sighed, trying to keep his emotions at bay.
“You cut all your connection plus we never had that bond to share in-depth talks.”
“Exactly. In that case, I come right to the point. What exactly happened?” He asked seriously.
“Don’t try to know Dariel, you won’t look at her in the same way, plus I doubt you would believe me,”
“I don’t care. I want to know,” Dariel hissed, not in the mood to return with unanswered questions.
“Fine,” He scoffed and began to tell how it all started.
Telling how everything led to the point a hostility was brimmed between them and that abhorrence still continued.
“It all started when Helder was a year old and Tilda broke up with me to which I demanded that I would keep him. She agreed and left our lives until… I saw her being my brother’s bride,”
