My slight encouragement worked. Both Nico and Mason are gone this morning which means I won’t have to do too much sneaking around to follow the lead Mom and 1 discovered yesterday. I open my phone to give Mom a text.
Are we hanging out today?
She replies not even a minute later.
Yep! I’ll be over soon. Love you xx
By the time I shower, dress and have a quick breakfast, Mom and Uncle Matteo are here, the later looking a lot like he would rather be anywhere else but here. I lead them through to the kitchen and
take a seat on one of the stools.
“Wow, baby girl, this house is amazing!” Mom coos as she looks around the space.
“I’d give you a tour, but I think we have more pressing matters. What did you find out about this
warehouse?”
Matteo opens his laptop of the kitchen counter and proceeds to show me everything he’s uncovered.
“Looks like it’s only lightly guarded, might be a rendezvous point for their shipments. I watched it
for a few hours last night and there really wasn’t much activity coming to and from, just a few guards circling it in shifts.”
I look over at Mom and I’m not sure who’s more excited about this, me or her.
“Let’s go check it out then!” She claps her hands and Matteo frowns.
“I’m really not sure about that Donna. You know your husbands will have my head if anything
happens to either of you.”
“Well, we better not let anything happen to us then, come on!”
Matteo knows he won’t win this argument so he just sighs heavily and gives in.
We’re just about to leave the house when Tommy stops us.
“Uhh…Miss Donatello, Mrs Donatello, Sir, good morning. Where are we off to today?” He holds his hand on the doorknob warily.
“No need to worry, Tommy, Mom and I are going out to lunch and as you can see, we have my uncle
1/3
here for protection.” I take a step forward and he takes one back, putting his body on the door
“I am really sorry, but I can’t let you go without a security team…Boss’s orders. A few other guards have filed into the room, clearly the ‘security team‘ that we don’t need or want.
“How about this…I’ll let you come with us and leave the others here.”
“No can do, sorry, boss’s orders.” He crosses his arms in a firm gesture.
“Okay then how about this. You get the fuck out of my way and tell your boss that you couldn’t do anything about it or my Mom and I kick all of your assess and leave you here anyway.”
Tommy looks to some of the guards and then backs to us before stifling a laugh. I hear a few of the
other guys laugh too.
“I’m sorry, but that is just ridiculous.”
“Is it? How about you take my Mom on one on one and we see about that?”
He looks down at Mom who’s standing casually by my side, sizing her up before raising an eyebrow.
“I can’t do that. She’s Donna of the Donatello family. Hurting her would mean a bullet to the head.”
Mom steps forward, raising her chin to look at him. “Don’t worry sweetheart. You wouldn’t land a
single hit anyway.”
This makes everyone in the room but Mom, Matteo and I burst out in laughter. They clearly haven’t heard about what she’s capable of.
“Alright, alright. One on one, but when I hurt you, you have to tell your husbands not to off me.”
“And when I knock you out, you let us leave on our own and deal with the consequences of that.”
