Chapter 120
The next morning, I wake to find a glass of water and two painkillers on my bedside. Probably Kaiden or Hunter’s doing. I shower, dress for school, pop a Xanax and head down for breakfast.
“Good morning, Princess“, Kaiden greets me. Hunter and Mason are serving my breakfast and coffee before I’m even at the table.
“Thank you.”
“We’re going to take you to school early this morning. Hunter and I have some things to do today but Mason will be with you.” Kaiden says over his cup of coffee.
“What things?”
“Just things. We’ll be back later tonight, so be on your best behavior.”
I give him a mock salute and shovel my breakfast down, avoiding Masons attempts at eye contact. I know what he’s trying to do and looking into my eyes to see if I’m high isn’t going to happen. Dude needs to back off, honestly.
Go hop in the car, we just have to get some things.” Kaiden says once I’m finished. I walk to the garage, very aware of Mason’s looming presence. I’m about to open the car door when two strong hands take a hold of my hips and spin me around. Mason’s large frame pins me against the car.
“What…are you doing?” I ask hesitantly, looking anywhere but up. He grabs my chin firmly and angles my face to look at him. He narrows his eyes and hums.
“You need to stop doing that shit.”
I smack his hand away. “What shit? I’m fine. Be a good boy and move.” His eyebrows lift and there’s something in his eyes I’ve never seen before. To my surprise he takes a step back. Interesting… His hands flex at his sides like he’s trying to restrain himself and I note the way his jaw flexes like he’s grinding his teeth. I turn back around and reach for the door, looking back over my shoulder at him, I smirk with an idea.
“After you.” I motion with my hand. He gulps hard but slides into the car. I lean down, looking at him.
“Good boy.” I whisper and close the door, rounding the car to get in the other side. Once inside I chance a look at him. His usual stoic expression has slipped. He’s wiping his sweating palms on his pants which draws my attention to the raging erection he’s trying to hide. Did he…like that? Huh. My brothers open the boot and throw a couple of bags inside before getting in the front seats. When I look back at Mason, he’s back to his usual stone–cold expression with his hands held purposefully in his lap.
We get to school, and I say a quick goodbye to my brother’s before they drive off and I’m left in the car park with Mason.
“Well, guess I’ll see you in first period.” I begin to walk away but he stays by my side. “Don’t you have something better to do?”
“Not really.”
“Okay. Great, well I’m going to the bathroom.”
I expect him to wait outside but he does the exact opposite and follows me in.
“What the hell, Mason?! You can’t be in here!”
He crosses his arms and shrugs. “I’m sure your family name can clear just about anything up.”
“Have you never heard of privacy? I’m not having you in here listening to me pee!”
He steps forward, there’s only a sliver of space between us and I can feel the heat radiating off his body. He leans down so he’s at eye level.
I don’t think that’s what you’re doing in here. I may not have told your brothers about the pills, but I’m not going to stand back and allow it to keep happening.
1 lift my chin in defiance. “and who the hell are you to tell me what I can and can not do, huh?”
I’m someone who cares.” The statement throws me off for a moment. Why the hell would he care about me? He’s my brothers friend, not mine.
