Iris gave a bitter smile. “No need. I’m over him now.”
Danica rolled her eyes, but at least she wasn’t as mad anymore.

“Nica, I’m pregnant,” Iris blurted out suddenly.
“What?” Danica was taken aback. “Who’s the father?”
“Heriberto?” she asked.
Iris nodded. “Yes.”
“Damn it, that son of a bitch!”
Danica’s anger that had just faded flared up again. She said furiously, “Do you know what I overheard the trashy cou- ple say at the restaurant earlier?”
“What?” Iris prompted gently.
“Melanie wants a womb transplant. She said she wanted a child with Heriberto. She wants to be a mother.”
Danica knew Melanie had her womb removed when she suffered a hemorrhage induced by the miscarriage.
She didn’t think Iris had done this, but Iris said it was her doing.
Danica believed Iris must have her reasons. She was forced into it with valid grounds.
No matter what, she would stand by Iris.
Iris frowned slightly.
“Does that jerk know you’re pregnant?” Danica asked.
Iris nodded again.
“He knows you’re pregnant and still wants a divorce?” Danica grew angrier.
Iris lowered her head slightly. “He told me to get rid of the babies. Said if I refuse, the kids will be Melanie’s after birth.”
“Over my dead body!” Danica slammed the table, seething with rage.
Looking at her angry face, Iris smiled. “Relax. He can’t boss me around anymore. I’ll have the twins, and there’s no way my babies will ever have anything to do with Melanie.”

Danica heaved a sigh of relief, nodding. “Babe, I’m glad you think it that way. However, according to the law, a man can’t file for divorce during his wife’s pregnancy and breastfeeding. Since Heriberto is such a jerk, drag it out for two years before divorcing him.”
Iris shook her head with a smile. “What’s the point of dragging it out? Can’t I just divorce him as soon as possible and find someone better?”
“Right!” Danica slammed the table again, eyes lighting up as she gazed at Iris. “Babe, you’ve finally wised up!
“Exactly. The next one will be better. With your looks, who wouldn’t fall for you except that blind fool Heriberto?”
Iris fell silent.
“But if you divorce Heriberto now, will the Hale family acknowledge your babies?” Danica asked, worried.
Iris nodded. “They will. Heriberto’s mother even wanted to take me back to the Hale’s mansion and look after me, but I refused. She’ll never accept Melanie.”
Danica frowned again as she listened.
“What’s wrong? What are you thinking?”
Iris knew her best. Although Danica seemed reckless, she was sharp and would always do anything for her.
“Babe, Melanie’s getting a womb transplant to have Heriberto’s baby. Will she hurt yours?”
