Heriberto’s eyes narrowed as he saw Iris tugging at Nathaniel’s clothes, all sweet and clingy. It made Heriberto’s blood boil.

He clenched his fists and then relaxed them. With a sneer, he said, “Fine, I’ll be waiting tomorrow.”

He forced himself to stay calm, turned around, and stormed out.

Mara, scared that Nathaniel might really slap her, quickly followed Heriberto out.

As soon as the door slammed shut, Iris’s calm facade crumbled.

She closed her eyes and leaned back in her chair. Tears quickly filled her eyes.

“I’ll get someone to deal with Mara right away.” Nathaniel was furious, taking out his phone to call.

“Nathaniel.” Iris stopped him, smiled weakly, and said, “If Heriberto didn’t agree, Mara wouldn’t dare to be so rude.”

As she spoke, tears slid down her cheeks.

Nathaniel, seeing her cry, felt a bit flustered. He quickly took a tissue to wipe her tears. “Iris, don’t cry. A blind jerk like Heriberto doesn’t deserve a single tear from you.”

Iris nodded, trying hard to hold back her tears, and said, “Nathaniel, you’re right. He doesn’t deserve it.”

“You silly girl. You didn’t take the items. Maybe they were just looking for trouble. Why did you admit it?” Nathaniel was confused and annoyed.

Iris shook her head. “Even though Heriberto is blind and a scumbag, he wouldn’t be so low as to falsely accuse me on

purpose.”

“Then he just believed you took the items?” Nathaniel was furious. “You’ve known each other for ten years, married for three. Is this how he sees you?”

Iris smiled bitterly, “Mara said I stole it, and he believed it. That only proves one thing. He doesn’t care about me at all. In his heart, I can’t even compare to Mara.”

“If that’s the case, you should make it clear.” Nathaniel still didn’t understand.

Iris shook her head. “He’s already done this. If I still have any hope for him, I’m stupid and cheap!”

“So?” Nathaniel asked.

Iris smiled, tears streaming down. “Since I’ve given up on him, who cares about those bitches around him? The more he pushes me away, the more I’ll be done with him.”

“What about the items? You didn’t take them. Where are you going to get them for Heriberto?” Nathaniel asked again.
