Iris gave a bright smile. “Then, let’s get divorced. How about tomorrow?”
“Divorced? Who’s getting divorced?” a pushy female voice interrupted.
Iris turned her head to see Megan walking toward them.
“Megan,” she called as before.
Megan surveyed Iris before looking at Heriberto. “Heriberto, Iris is pregnant. Don’t upset her.”
Otherwise, she would be OK with the divorce.
Now that Iris was carrying babies, Megan wouldn’t allow it. Not now.
They could get divorced if they wanted after childbirth. Then, the babies would be part of the Hale family and would have nothing to do with Iris.
Heriberto glanced at Megan coolly, his lips pressed tightly together, before letting go of Iris’s wrist and entering the house without a word.
When he walked past Megan, he didn’t even stop, let alone greet her.
Brought up by his grandma, Heriberto wasn’t close to his mom.
Perhaps used to his attitude, Megan didn’t get mad. After Heriberto walked into the house, she gestured for Iris to come closer with her hand.
Iris walked up to her.
Megan took her hand and stared at her belly. “How are you feeling? Are the kids OK?”
Neither Iris nor Heriberto knew how Iris got pregnant. But Megan knew exactly what happened.
She was certain Heriberto was the father of the babies.
It was she who had had someone sabotage Heriberto’s condoms and prick them.
But Heriberto would never know about it, or he’d hate Megan even more.
Heriberto nodded, “Hmm. So far, so good.”
“That’s a relief.” Megan nodded and took Iris into the house.
Dinner is ready. Everybody sat at the table in the dining room.
Seeing that Iris looked unwell, Charlie expressed his concern perfunctorily.

Chapter 10
On the surface, he was still head of the family, after all.

Ever since his first son, Julian, whom Charlie was so proud of, passed away after an accident, Charlie hadn’t been as fit and energetic as before.
Luckily, he still had Heriberto, who had never let him down. Heriberto had basically taken over the Hale Group.
“Iris, I hear you almost miscarried and were hospitalized to keep the babies. Why don’t you move back here during your pregnancy? There are so many people here. You and the twins will be taken good care of.”
Megan wasn’t making a suggestion. She was informing Iris.
These years, Iris had always listened to Megan and waited on her well. So, Megan was certain Iris would say yes this time.
While Iris was thinking of a way to refuse, Heriberto said in a deep and cold voice, “No!”
Iris let out a sigh of relief.
