Chapter 267
Chapter 267
“Mr. Rhodes and his team left. I think they went to handle other business,” Jenny told Sonia.
Sonia frowned. “That’s weird. How did I actually fall asleep?”
“What about my clothes…”
Something occurred to Sonia, and her face lit up. “Did Cassian cover me with something?”
Jenny saw that Sonia was lost in her fantasy and felt bad about interrupting, but she had to set the record straight. “Um, I was the one who covered you. You looked cold, so 1…”
Sonia’s brow furrowed in displeasure. “I was that cold and Cassian didn’t even notice?”
Jenny smiled awkwardly. “They didn’t seem to notice you at all.”
Sonia felt irritated. Here she was, a beautiful woman sleeping on the couch like Sleeping Beauty, and they hadn’t paid her any attention at all. How infuriating!
“Whatever. They were probably just too busy to notice me,” Sonia rationalized. She refused to admit that her lack of charm was why those two men had completely ignored her.
“Sonia, we need to get downstairs now,” Jenny said urgently. “Everyone’s ready except for you, the spokesperson.”
Sonia paused, then said, “It’s fine. This is Cassian’s company. If I’m a little late, it won’t matter.”
She didn’t believe Cassian would blame her for something like this.
Jenny looked at Sonia hesitantly.
*But the boss called to hurry you along. If you don’t get down there soon, I’m afraid…”
Jenny’s phone started ringing urgently again. She quickly answered, signaling for Sonia to keep quiet.
It was Aurora calling.
“Boss?”
“Is Sonia awake yet? Everyone’s waiting for her. Don’t keep them waiting too long,” Aurora said.
Aurora felt embarrassed and had already bought bubble tea for everyone. The crew was asking about flavor preferences.
“Attorney Maddox, what flavor would you like?”
Theo glanced at Aurora. “I don’t drink that stuff. I never drink these things–they’re unhealthy.”
Aurora snorted dismissively. “You eat so healthy, but I don’t see you looking particularly fit.”
Aurora’s comment was loaded with venom.
Theo shot back, “What makes you think I’m not in good shape?”
His body was perfectly fine, thank you very much.
“Whether you’re in good shape or not, you know the truth. Can’t last ten minutes,” Aurora said.
“Pfft…”
Ana had been trying her best to hold it in, but she couldn’t help bursting into laughter, even with her hand covering her mouth.
