“This isn’t a coffee shop.” Theo said dryly.
Aurora snorted and looked up to meet his gaze head on, saying through gritted teeth, “What’s it to you? I’m here to get coffee from my brother Ca problem with that?”
“Wouldn’t dare. After all, you’re daddy’s little princess,” Theo replied sarcastically, staring at Autora like he wanted to devour her whole,
Aurora glared right back. “Damn right I am–definitely better than some corporate wage slave.”
She turned to leave. “What a pain in the ass.”
“Some people who’ve done shady things tend to run away pretty quick,” Theo called after her.
Aurora stopped dead in her tracks. She spun around, her eyes like daggers trying to cut right through him.
“You’re the one who did shady things!” she snarled.
“Want to say that again?” Theo’s eyes narrowed dangerously
“I’ll say it as many times as I want…” Aurora grabbed the ashtray from the coffee table.
Sonia quickly jumped in to play peacemaker. “Aurora, don’t be impulsive! Nothing good comes from acting on impulse.”
“Shut up,” Cassian said coldly. He looked at Theo. “You too. Both of you, shut it.”
“I’m only backing down out of respect for you,” Theo said.
“Who isn’t?” Aurora shot back.
“This place is boring as hell. I’m leaving.”
“Hold on,” Cassian said. “What did you actually come here for today?”
Aurora stopped. Damn that bastard Theo–he’d almost made her forget why she was here!
“I brought Sonia to shoot an advertisement for your jewelry line. Keep it in the family, like we talked about before.”
Cassian made a noncommittal sound. Sonia’s image was decent, and she had good buzz lately. She’d do fine as a spokesperson for Rhodes Global.
Sonia wasn’t their first choice, but she was one of Aurora’s talent, and like Aurora said–keep it in the family.
This was the kind of thing Cassian made decisions on but didn’t personally manage, so he hadn’t known they were coming today.
“Where’s Ana?” Aurora asked.
“At work, in her department.”
“I miss her. I’m going to go find her.”
With that excuse, Aurora quickly made her escape.
Sonia didn’t want to leave. It was rare to get time alone with Cassian, and she naturally wanted to stay as long as possible.
“Cassian, could I stay here? I didn’t sleep well last night, and I had several back–to–back shoots. I’m pretty exhausted and could use a place to rest,” Sonia said, looking at him hopefully.
“Fine. Use the couch.”
