Chapter 256
“Ma’am, you’ve got it all wrong. As long as you sign with Rhodes Global, we’ll see it through to the end and deliver a product that exceeds you expectations,” Vincent said to Miss Brooks.
Something about her voice was bugging him he was sure he’d heard it somewhere before.
Ana watched Vincent, thinking to herself that he really was a sly old fox, covering all his bases.
“If Anastasia isn’t handling this project, the deal’s off,” Miss Brooks told Vincent flatly.
Vincent couldn’t care less about some small time client. “I’m sorry, but since Anastasia failed to meet company standards, she has to be terminated. If you don’t want another colleague to take over, then we can’t proceed with your order.”
Miss Brooks snorted coldly. “Fine.”
“Mr. Dalton, do you know who this lady is?” Ana asked.
“How would I know?”
“This is Miss Brooks–the Miss Brooks you assigned me to meet with.”
“What?!” Vincent’s eyes went wide with shock.
It all came flooding back! No wonder her voice had sounded so familiar–this was Miss Brooks!
The moment Vincent realized who she was, he did a complete 180, practically groveling. “Miss Brooks, I’m so sorry! I didn’t recognize you–please forgive me!”
Miss Brooks let out another cold laugh. “Didn’t you just say you didn’t want my business?”
“No, no, of course not! This is all just a misunderstanding!” Vincent forced a smile, his face practically cramping from the effort.
“What can I get you to drink? I’ll have someone bring it right up. And since it’s around dinnertime, please let me take you out for a meal…”
Miss Brooks held up a hand to cut him off. “That won’t be necessary. I only want Designer Anastasia handling my account.”
“You said if Designer Anastasia couldn’t close this deal, she’d have to pack up and leave. Well, now I’ve signed the contract. So what do you have to say
about that?”
“I… I apologize to her,” Vincent said, turning to Ana. Even though he was seething inside, he couldn’t let it show. Not only that, he had to actually apologize to Ana. “Anastasia, I’m truly sorry. This was all a misunderstanding. Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
Vincent was trying to shift some of the blame onto Ana.
His scheming was so obvious it might as well have been written on his forehead. Ana raised an eyebrow. “Did you give me a chance to explain?”
Vincent: “…”
“Alright, that settles it. I’ll be working exclusively with Designer Anastasia for all my future projects,” Miss Brooks declared.
“Come on, Olivia. Let’s go.”
Olivia reluctantly said goodbye to Ana. “See you later, Ana!”
“See you,” Ana replied.
Vincent tried to ingratiate himself one more time. “Miss Brooks, let me walk you out.”
“No need. I only want Anastasia to escort me.”
