Chapter 252
Olivia told Miss Brooks everything that had happened in the elevator, painting a vivid picture while her mother listened intently.
Suddenly, as Sonia stepped back, she accidentally bumped into the table, knocking over a cup of coffee and making a mess.
Everyone’s eyes turned toward Sonia.
Jenny Yates quickly grabbed Sonia’s hand, signaling her not to panic.
Sonia bit her lip, not daring to speak.
Ana seemed to notice something. “Ms. Vinci, why do you look so nervous?”
Sonia glared at Ana through gritted teeth. “What makes you think I’m nervous?”
Ana shrugged. “Oh, sorry. Maybe I was mistaken.”
“Mommy, thank goodness that lady was there,” Olivia said to Miss Brooks. “The rescue workers said if she hadn’t pressed all the floor buttons to stop the elevator, we might have…”
Miss Brooks hugged Olivia tighter, still shaken by the thought.
She looked over at Ana. “Thank you.”
Ana shook her head. “Don’t mention it. I was just doing what anyone would do. I was in that elevator too–if I hadn’t acted, I would’ve been in the same danger.”
“Since you have guests to attend to, Miss Brooks, I won’t disturb you any longer. I’ll reach out another time if the opportunity arises.”
With that, Ana left.
Ana’s composed and gracious demeanor left a good impression on Miss Brooks. The fact that she didn’t try to leverage saving Olivia for personal gain only improved Miss Brooks‘ opinion of her.
“Mommy, why was that lady here?” Olivia asked.
“She’s a jewelry designer. I was thinking of having her create a graduation gift for you, but she stood me up for our meeting. I don’t want to work with someone who can’t keep appointments or honor commitments.”
“Oh no,” Olivia said, looking disappointed. “But she didn’t seem like that kind of person at all. She must have had a good reason.”
Miss Brooks remained silent.
Sonia, who had been ignored this whole time, suddenly spoke up. “You’re young, sweetie. You can’t always judge people by appearances. Some people might have ulterior motives when they approach you,”
Olivia froze for a moment, then frowned.
“No, that’s impossible. She doesn’t even know me Olivia protested.
“But think about it,” Sonia pressed. “Your mother didn’t have an appointment with her today, yet somehow she knew to find you here. What do you
make of that?”
Olivia pressed her lips together and fell silent.
Sonia wasn’t wrong, but Olivia still didn’t want to believe it.
Feeling like she needed to drive the point home, Sonia continued, “Actually, that designer isn’t very professional. I hired her for a jewelry design once, and what she came up with was almost identical to work by an international master. When I confronted her, she wouldn’t admit to copying she just

claimed it was inspiration.
Sonia was telling half truths, deliberately leaving ont context because her goal was to badmouth Ana.
She wasn’t technically lying–that part was true.
“Why are you talking trash about that lady?” Olivia asked, clearly annoyed.
Sonia was taken aback. Wait, wasn’t Olivia supposed to be her fan? Why was she acting like this now?
“Do you know who I am?” Sonia asked.
Olivia looked at her with a furrowed brow. “Does it matter?”
Not giving up, Sonia tried again. “I’m Sonia Vinci.”
