Ana took Sharlene’s charm and slipped it into her pocket. “Thanks.”
“Don’t mention it,” Sharlene said shyly.
Ana headed out with Sharlene’s good wishes.
At the hotel. Ana saw the elevator doors about to close and rushed forward. “Hold the elevator!”
Luckily, the person inside was considerate enough to hold the door open for her–a pretty girl with delicate features.
Ana nodded gratefully. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” the girl replied politely.
The elevator began its slow ascent when suddenly the whole car shuddered. The lights flickered a few times before going out completely, followed by a terrifying sensation of free fall.
Fighting back her fear, Ana quickly pressed every floor button she could reach.
Thankfully, after dropping several floors, the elevator finally came to a stop.
Even though they’d stopped, Ana’s heart was still pounding, and she didn’t dare move.
She pressed the emergency button, and after a moment, a voice came through. Ana explained the situation, and they promised to send help as quickly as possible.
That’s when Ana heard rapid, panicked breathing behind her.
Using her phone’s flashlight, she turned to check on the other girl, who had gone completely pale and was tugging at her collar, clearly having trouble breathing.
“Ana quickly moved over. “Hey, are you feeling okay? What’s wrong?”
The girl swallowed hard and managed to say, “I’m scared… I can’t breathe.”
“It’s okay,” Ana said gently. “We’re safe now. I just called for help–they’ll be here soon.”
“If you don’t mind, let me help you.”
Ana helped loosen the girl’s collar and used some papers to fan her. The girl gripped Ana’s hand tightly, and with Ana’s presence, she gradually began to calm down.
After what felt like forever, they were finally rescued.
“Good thing you pressed those buttons–that’s what stopped the elevator,” one of the rescue workers told them.
Ana breathed a sigh of relief, feeling like she’d just cheated death.
“Thank you so much,” the girl said to Ana, her voice filled with genuine gratitude.
Her color was finally starting to return to normal.
“Don’t mention it,” Ana replied.

Ana scanned the cafe until the spotted Miss Brricks.
She walked over Miss Bricks, hello.”
Mist Brooks looked at Ana with suspicion. “You are.
“Hello, Miss Bronks. I’m Anastasia. I’m a designet with Rhodes Global’s jewelry design department.”
At the mention of Ana’s name, Miss Brooks‘ expression turned ice cold. “Save your explanations. You stood me up the other day and left me wading for
hours.”
“I’m so sorry. That was completely my fault. I had an emergency and couldn’t contact you in time: I take full responsibility.” Ana apologized sincerely.
“That’s why I reached out to you the moment I got back to work.”
“Actually, I tried calling you immediately, but couldn’t get through,” Ana added.
She wasn’t lying–Miss Brooks had been so angry that she’d blocked Ana’s number.
“I know I messed up and wasted your valuable time. I want to apologize properly. If you’ll give me one more chance, I promise I’ll create something you’ll love.”
Miss Brooks was somewhat moved by Ana’s willingness to take responsibility instead of making excuses.
But even so, she wasn’t ready to forgive.
She didn’t like people who couldn’t manage their time properly.
“I accept your apology, but I don’t think we need to continue working together.”
“Actually, I’ve been studying your requirements these past few days, and I created some designs based on what you wanted. This is just a rough draft, but maybe you could take a look.”
Ana pushed the design sketches toward Miss Brooks.
However, Miss Brooks was a perfectionist, and when she saw the wrinkled papers, her expression darkened with displeasure.
“You’re showing me crumpled designs? This shows no respect for me at all. I don’t need to see any more.”
Ana bit her lip. The designs had been fine originally, but after everything that happened…
No, she couldn’t make excuses. Wrinkled was wrinkled.
“I’m sorry about the condition of the papers, but the content is good. Maybe you could just take a look…”
Miss Brooks pushed Ana’s hand away, causing Ana to lose her grip. The design sketches scattered across the floor.
Ana quickly crouched down to gather them up.
Just then, two other people approached Miss Brooks. “Hello, Miss Brooks.”
Miss Brooks‘ attitude immediately softened when she saw who it was. “Hello, Ms. Vinci.”
Sonia Vinci smiled graciously. “Sorry, traffic was a nightmare. I almost ran late.”
Miss Brooks checked her watch. “No problem at all. I arrived early.”
Miss Brooks was very punctual–she hated when people were late, and she didn’t like keeping others waiting, so she always arrived ahead of schedule.
