The moment Anastasia got in the car, she spotted Cassian.
To keep Narissa and Vincent from seeing him, she quickly slammed the door shut.
“Ana, Cassian’s totally wasted,” Griffin told her.
Wasted?
But Anastasia could only detect the faintest hint of alcohol.
Suddenly, Cassian’s hand moved and grabbed hers.
Since Griffin had said he was drunk, when a hand suddenly latched onto hers, she nearly jumped out of her skin.
“Everything okay back there?” Griffin asked without turning around. Given Anastasia’s… unique situation, he figured it was better not to make direct eye contact.
“Yeah, all good,” Anastasia said quickly.
She shot Cassian a look.
He glanced at her with a little smirk, winked, then closed his eyes and leaned against her shoulder.
His hair was tickling her neck, so she instinctively reached up to smooth it down.
Griffin thought the backseat was way too quiet, so he turned around to check–and immediately felt like he’d been punched in the gut.
Anastasia was gently running her fingers through Cassian’s hair, her movements tender and her eyes full of love.
God, people in relationships are so gross.
How could Cassian even doubt that she loved him?
But Griffin sure as hell wasn’t telling him that. Let the idiot figure it out himself.
Soon they pulled up to Cassian and Anastasia’s place.
Griffin got out, ready to help get Cassian upstairs.
Drunk Cassian was dead weight–when Griffin had helped him to the car earlier, it was like dragging a beached whale. Just getting him into the car had nearly killed Griffin.
If Anastasia tried to support him, she’d probably die.
“I’ve got this,” Griffin told Anastasia.
“Oh, you really don’t need to…” Anastasia protested.
Cassian wasn’t even drunk.
“Don’t worry about it. He’s my boy–this is nothing,” Griffin said.
He went to pull Cassian out of the car, but Cassian clung to Anastasia like a damn octopus. No matter how hard Griffin tugged, he wouldn’t budge.
Griffin paused, confused. “What the hell? This is weird.”
He put his hands on his hips, breathing hard.

Chapter 213
Anastasia gently patted Cassian’s cheek and said softly, “We’re home. Let’s go upstairs.”
Cassian made a little “mmm” sound, swayed to his feet, and leaned against her.
Anastasia barely had to support him–they walked easily together.
Griffin called out from behind them, “I seriously think that bastard is faking it!”
Sorry, but you’re absolutely right, Anastasia thought.
Once they got in the elevator, Cassian immediately straightened up and dropped the drunk act.
