Chapter 298
“rm stuffed. Ready to get out of here?” Cassian said to Anastasia and Tamia.
Yinsen cleared his throat loudly.
Tamia jumped, suddenly remembering her financial doom, and shot Yinsen a death glare. What a cheap bastard–it was just pasta that cost maybe twenty bucks, and he was still making her pay!
“Alright, alright, dinner’s on me,” Tamia said with zero enthusiasm.
Anastasia grinned. “Damn, Tamia, what’s the occasion? Did you win the lottery or get promoted?”
Tamia looked at her like she’d grown a second head. “Do you honestly think that’s possible?”
“Actually, Tamia just got promoted to Assistant Sales Manager today. Keep up the good work and you’ll be moving up the ladder,” Yinsen said casually.
Tamia went completely catatonic, her jaw practically hitting the floor.
Yinsen made a fist and held it up to her gaping mouth, looking mildly disgusted. Were all women’s mouths this tiny? His fist
wouldn’t even fit.
Tamia suddenly came back to life, staring at Yinsen in complete shock. “Hold up–when the hell did I get promoted? This is literally the first I’m hearing about it!”
“About thirty seconds ago,” Yinsen said with a straight face.
“Thirty seconds ago…”
Tamia’s entire demeanor flipped. “Oh my God, Mr. Hunter, you’re incredible! You’re the best boss ever! I knew you were too smart to waste my obvious talent! This pasta is totally my treat!”
Tamia threw her hands up dramatically, beaming like she’d just hit the jackpot.
Seeing Tamia so ecstatic made Anastasia smile too.
After they said their goodbyes, Tamia was still walking on air.
“Pretty pumped, huh?” Yinsen asked.
Watching her look so smug made him want to mess with her a little.
“Actually, when I said you got promoted, I meant more like a one–day trial. Think of it as a test drive.”
Tamia’s face froze mid–smile, her expression crashing harder than the stock market.
She stared at him. “You’re kidding, right?”
Yinsen didn’t answer, just maintained his poker face.

Tamia’s eyes started burning and her throat got light. She was about to break down, but she forced herself to take a deep breath and sound normal. “Cool, got it.”
She should be grateful she’d made it from nobody to supervisor this fast anyway.
“Got what exactly?” Yinsen pressed.
Tamia turned away, refusing to even look at him.
Was torturing her really this fun?!
Seeing that Tamia was about to lose it, Yinsen felt genuinely bad.
“I was just screwing with you. Your numbers have been killer–you should’ve been promoted months ago. I just thought you were a little green, so I wanted to see how you’d handle it.”
